TIGER, looking good, getting faster
Publicado por Nick Galbreath o 2 de Setembro de 2007 en English.Ignore my last message -- no need to trace! TIGER imports for the USA are restarting. Dave Hansen is the man to see about this.
I used his scripts and they work some with minor tweaks on Mac OS X.
They run quickly but its very memory intensive. I've modified them to be more friendly and now most data sets take "about 1 minute". The Big Ones still are a hog, but I'm working on that too.
If you have some Unix skills you can pull down the code, and convert any TIGER dataset you want and display in JOSM. For NYC, I've converted TIGER to OSM format and then uploaded it to a Garmin HCX. Looking GOOD! I walked all over Manhattan today and the match was great. (note: I did not upload the tiger data to the live OSM server)
I'll write up my changes, and a HOWTO later this weekend. If you are desperate to play with this, send me a note.
