Rochdale Canal

Unviáu por POHB el 20 April 2008 en English

Just got back from a week on the Rochdale Canal between Sowerby Bridge and Littleborough. Kept a GPS trace the whole way so I've been able to fill in missing sections. However, I also waymarked every bridge and lock that I went through and noted all the names and numbers, but these waypoints are not showing up in Potlach when I edit the GPX. Any ideas why? I though it might have been a lack of timestamps but I tried again to upload the GPX, having edited in timestamps for all the waypoints and it still isn't showing them. I'm sure I've got this to work before!

I think the waypoints are filtered out in the upload process. Try opening the GPX file directly in JOSM where they do appear.

It's a bug in Potlatch: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=570
It will be fixed in 0.8b according to a post in the thread.

I see 0.8b is now available but I'm still not seeing my waypoints. It was not clear to me whether the bug was to do with the upload or the editing so I'll try the upload again.

Hello POHB,
you have just replied to one of my help request so this is my revenge.
As I said I am a newbie and I purchase my Garmin about a month ago.
I had problems which I have ironed out. It was me of course but the handbook
didn't help.
Another thing I found out was the same as what you are mentioning.
I was storing the track data to the SD-Card. Apparently when you store to the
SD-Card the DateTimeStamp (DTS) is removed and Potlach cannot handle that.
Anyway the workaround was easy: Don't store to the SD-Card which of course reduces the functionality of the Garmin. Up to now I have never exeeded 6% storage anyway.
Bye

Re comment from dcp:
As per my original message I had tried adding in timestamps but that was not the issue. Potlach has been fixed now anyway so it is no longer a problem.
What you say is almost right, when you save the current track (to memory, you can't save to SD card) the GPS does not save timestamps and won't load into OSM without editing. However, if you turn on logging to the SD card the saved GPXes have timestamps and can be used directly.
