"Ben" is shown in the history as having added the nodes. I'll ask him where he got the data.

That doesn't usually happen ...

I had a circular from the Ramblers' Association the other day. They reckon there's at least 20,000 public paths that are unrecorded on the "definitive" maps drawn up by the councils, these will all be "lost" once the dedline for recording them set by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 deadline has expired. In the last 8 years since the act came into force the government-funded project to undertake the work has not managed to record a single path!

Made me wonder if OSM can do anything to help.

Trouble with TrailExplorer

You can just edit some timestamps back in. OMS doesn't care what the times are, but it wants them to be there. Just set them all to the rough date/time that you made the track.

Trouble with TrailExplorer

Chances are the trackpoints are missing timestamps. You should get an email with success or failure of the upload.

Ah that! Looks like the work of witches. I found some strange arrows where I was adding a few bridlepaths lat=53.24964&lon=-1.82434 . I guess they were someone's note-to-self about unfinished ways.

What was it, I can't see anything there now?

Re comment from dcp:
As per my original message I had tried adding in timestamps but that was not the issue. Potlach has been fixed now anyway so it is no longer a problem.
What you say is almost right, when you save the current track (to memory, you can't save to SD card) the GPS does not save timestamps and won't load into OSM without editing. However, if you turn on logging to the SD card the saved GPXes have timestamps and can be used directly.

Use of OSM Data

Here's your start point osm.wiki/index.php/OSM_Map_On_Garmin

Garmen GPSMAP 60CSx

If you appear to be 500m out on the Garmin map I suggest you try a different map, like erm... OSM? You could also try uploading a track and see how it looks in Potlach compared with the map.

Potlatch and Waypoints?

I had an issue with potlach not showing my Garmin waypoints a while back. That particular one got fixed, but maybe your problem is related? Before the fix I worked around it by editing the GPX to get rid of a lot of Garmin guff and moved the waypoints to the end of the file, after the tracks.
I believe that GPXes with only waypoints (i.e. no tracks) cannot be used.

Sounds like you need to use a "relation"

Rochdale Canal

I see 0.8b is now available but I'm still not seeing my waypoints. It was not clear to me whether the bug was to do with the upload or the editing so I'll try the upload again.

Ely (North)

Nice to see someone mapping my old home town. It has certainly grown since I lived there.

UK canal progress map

Nice. Pointed out where I'd messed up a bit of the Grand Union near me (turned it into one big lock!).

I'll be on the Rochdale in a couple of weeks time so hopefully can fill in a big chunk there.

New OpenPisteMap data

I see contours now. Very nice.

New OpenPisteMap data

Had a look from home as my work PC is stuck on IE and it was good to see my Isola 2000 stuff rendered there now. Was going to contact you to find out why some of the gondolas hadn't rendered, until I realised that I'd just spelt aerialway wrongly in the tag!

By the way, there's a picture here: http://www.hayward.uk.net/images/isola-anim.gif

Me too. I was disappointed to find my Isola 2000 stuff didn't show up
