For those who are not reading the mailing list, I added some examples of how to map cycle lanes and tracks in OSM in this wiki page:

I tried to summarize what I found in different wiki pages. It's not complete but I hope it will help. Any comments/remarks/completion are welcome.

I like the very clear schematic diagrams. But isn't there a way to distinguish between L1a and L1b ?
