Ah I wonder if the Potlatch editor is looking for those layer tags? I think i only added them to a couple of the bridges because they didn't seem to do anything and since as Lyx says it assumes the way is 0. But maybe the lack of a layer tag is effecting how its shown in Potlatch. May have been the order I drew some of the ways too. Some were river first with path later and others I drew the path then added the river later..Ok sorry Im waffling.

Yes Sanderd, I understood that the tiles wernt rendered immediately. I think I explained it badly and also was confused myself as to what was happening. What was happening was I was rendering in JOSM and uploading, then checking the changes online on Potlatch in edit mode and it was on Potlatch that the bridges are even now still arbitrarily having rivers and streams going over and under. I guess it doesnt really matter, since the finished result is what I want, but still wonder why it does it? Also I don't understand about the posting here. Is this like any forum that once you make a comment you are notified when other comments are made? Like to say a big thank you to those that keep helping me with my dumb questions and never sure if they receive the thanks when I just add another post. Wow some of you guys are incredibly knowledgeable about this stuff.

I don't even know if you guys that replied are notified when I make a reply here. I think the whole relations Multipolygon thing is a bit too advanced for me at the moment. the replies here really didnt make any sense to me. The river sections I wanted to mark do have islands.

Ahh, I'll try downloading that again, but my internet here in India is deadly slow and last time I had no chance of downloading it. Is that the only way to draw the node?

Sorry I don't understand you, can you try again. I know I can log my tracks direct to the data card, but so can I then download that to Mapsource to clean up the tracks then still be able to upload to OSM?

It was clear other than a vital part of the info, who is Lambertus! But I was just back on the Garmin routable map website and saw a link to a forum and low and behold there is Lambertus as the administrator! mystery solved. Also while I was there I looked up the India maps and they have indeed been updated to include Leh and some big green bits round Manali?. Now I'll read up on cleaning up my tracks and uploading them and can maybe pay back for the great maps you guys are making.

Sorry but I have no answer for you question, but I have one to ask you, and I hope its not too stupid a question. How do you actually map rivers and streams? I mean you can't walk down the middle of one, so do you just walk the river bank? Seems like you'd be in for some jungle thrashing to make it down some of the rivers I know.
