Hello, I've seen you've modified some paths. You added bicycle=yes to a number of them. For many of those (all the ones I checked), it's forbidden to cycle on. Some are on the Vauban fortifications, it has just recently been confirmed by the Ypres city council that cycling isn't allowed there (https://www.ieper.be/fietsen-ieperse-vestingen), and is also signed on all entrances to those paths. Others are though a nature reserve, where cycling is definately forbidden too.

I've seen you do the same in many other regions, so I doubt you know the region of Ypres very well. What's your reason to mark these paths as cyclable? Would you mind telling us your sources?

Sorry for that. I didn't zoom out to see where I actually was, and just assumed it was Russian by setting the Cyrillic script.

Hi,

When adding new islands, you must watch out that is doesn't collide with the existing islands. F.e. Little James Island is placed on top of an existing island now ( osm.org/way/395171744 ).

Can you look into correcting this? Thanks.

Hi, I hope you understand English, as I can't speak Russian.

I noticed you modified some boundaries here, and touched the coastline while doing the boundaries.

You must watch out with changing ways tagged as natural=coastline. These define the continents and the seas. You must always make sure the the "land" part of the coastline is on the left side, and they are connected to each other. (see osm.wiki/Tag:natural%3Dcoastline )

I fixed the coastline for now, by tagging the boundary as coastline, but near the Ropotamo river mouth, the coastline still isn't correct (it should be at the high-water line instead of the low-water line, and connect nicely to the river area).

Thanks for your work,
Sander

Hi, I see you fixed some issues in this region. Do you have more info on what went wrong?

Would you want to join the discussions at osm.wiki/Bad_imports/Cameroun_Ouest_region_landuse_import and osm.wiki/Bad_imports/Cameroun_Ouest_region_buildings_import

Thanks

Hi, I was wondering how ENEO is related to this, is this an import of data from ENEO?

Could you please join the discussion on osm.wiki/Bad_imports/Cameroun_Ouest_region_buildings_import

Hi, could you please drop by on the wiki and discuss if these buildings are related to the landuse import, or how you mapped them?

I may already have contacted you via a different changeset, but lost track of it. Could you please clarify the issues with this data on this wiki page? osm.wiki/Bad_imports/Cameroun_Ouest_region_landuse_import

Thanks in advance.

Hi, could you please explain why you included so many living streets in the import?

See osm.wiki/Bad_imports/Enugu_streets_import for the discussion.

Overpass indeed doesn't work on the dev server. But I don't see why you need demo data for Overpass. Overpass is strong enough to work with real (big) boundaries.

If you want help with making Overpass queries, I know Overpass syntax inside-out, and can certainly help you. You can also drop by on IRC to ask questions: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.oftc.net#osm

This data contains a huge amount of duplicated nodes, and even some duplicated ways. I also can't find any documentation on this import. Is this discussed somewhere?

Hi, if you want to test editing, please use the dev server: http://api06.dev.openstreetmap.org/

Demo data can't be allowed on the main OSM instance. If every mapper would do this, the world would always be full of demo data.

Please delete these ASAP.

Hi, I noticed you also applied the natural=coastline tag on your new sea boundaries.

But as you didn't remove the old coastlines, nor connect it to the coastlines that are still existing, the coastline parsing is currently broken.

When looking at the imagery, I find that neither the old nor the new coastline look very precise.

Note that the boundary and coastline don't necessarily match. The coastline in OSM is drawn at the high-water line, while boundaries are often defined to be at the low-water line (so municipal laws count on the beach).

I'll consult with some other mappers before doing something.
