Post When Comment
Listing business

Go into the map and either add a node for the business or define an area for the building.

Assuming its a cafe in your case the attributes should be
amenity=cafe
name=Idlewilde Cafe

If an area building=yes (or perhaps building=retail or cafe)

If contact information is important for reservations or orders you can add
phone=
fax=
email=
website=

Pompei Pizza And Pasta

Any other place I might have deleted it but I was looking for a decent pizza place in Arlington Heights.

Pompei Pizza And Pasta

Dimitry why don't you just ADD it to the map?
amenity=restaurant
cuisine=pizza (perhaps italian)
name=Pompei Pizza And Pasta

Glue Sniffers

El Segundo I agree with you totally.

Announcement of Withdrawal

Do people build houses on streets? Not normally, do you have parks on streets, again not normally. Streets should rarely be in a landuse area in my view. One of the basic concepts of OSM is "MAP EVERYTHING", so eventually 100% of the world may have a landuse tag.

To me I try to never delete somebody else's work but try to add to it.

Restrictions and Routing

Two oneways (ramp meeting a road for example) do not need a restriction. An example would of a valid restriction would be an intersection where a left or right turn is not permitted.

Boomerang Village Resort Phuket Kata Beach

Oops maybe not quite spam at least they added the hotel to the map

If6648 you might want to use the source tag for that...

Iraq Mystery City?

It was one of Saddam's palaces...

Lake Shore Drive

The other thing is if its 55 MPH it should be 88.514 km/h, implicitly OSM uses metric units so 90 would be 90 km/h. Like the others I'd use
maxspeed=55 mph

Heads up TriMet

In the case of Interstates, US and state highways there is a list of official names, don't remove them, if a freeway is more commonly known like above I would do...
name=Robert Baldock Freeway
alt_name=Boone Bridge (I'm going to assume this is the name of the bridge)
nat_name=Interstate 5
ref=I 5

The list of official names is here;

Getting rid of SPAM

Well if you're somebody like Pfizer or a drug store you could put your company's building on the map, and an appropriate website that is relevant to your business.

Phone number entry needed + Edit today

Other tags similar to phone that are (or could be useful) for commercial, retail buildings

If somebody modifies the renderer for example one could click on a hotel and go to their website, or perhaps phone them directly to set up reservations.

How to map loading docks?

You COULD do

If a row of doors (for each door);
barrier=entrance
ref=(number of the gate)
hgv=yes
goods=yes
motorcar=no
access=delivery (perhaps customers)

If its an outside flat raised dock I'd probably do (for the area of the dock)
highway=pedestrian
area=yes

road works that will finish in a complete redesign

Oh as well use the construction tags as well

highway=construction
construction=(motorway, motorway_link, trunk, primary, ...)

2 pages of edits

I'd probably use a

landuse=residential around the lots

Apartment
name=
building=yes
building:levels= (number of floors) for the apartment

But they won't map as well as me!

Personally I try and either add information, detail or fix mistakes, in cases where there are newer things then on the Yahoo or Bing imagery its a good idea to leave a note for someone else so they dont "fix" something that now doesn't exist the way it is in the imagery.

If you're putting the information in consistently someone shouldn't have to fix your work.

Mapping individual parking spaces

I'm not sure about every single space, but groups of parking spaces that have common restrictions sure.

For example when I'm going through TIGER data and come across rest areas, I tag the parking with
hgv=yes/no motorocar=yes/no for the appropriate parking area

fresh healthy vending

I concur Chilly SPAM, the thing is one can acceptably advertise this sort of business by adding it to the map.

Perhaps shop=bakery or amenity=fast_food, with the appropriate cuisine=, and add the website=, phone=, email=, and people might actually respect recipfresh.
