and ya, wetlands, the area im working on isn't wetlands, however i know of a few parks in the area that has it, so i'll make sure to use it. ... so to show where the lake/pond starts and wetlands ends.

Awesome work.. I looked at it in JOSM (i find its easier to see it that way) and saw the car repair area and found "garmin:description=car repair" ... that's what ive been looking for, for the longest time now... how to make it show up in the description area. As i'd like to see the company's phone number and address in that field.

That being said.... doesnt that mean that we can have a planet size database for the cycle map.. and one for hiking... and one for driving? ... so that would be just 3 databases. I dont see any reason why anyone would want any more than just the 3 defult types. .. perhaps one for feet. ... then it would be 6 types. But i dont see any more types.

I'm really hoping for the entire Confederation Trail (Trans Canada Trail) on the island to be mapped.
I'll map it myself when i get there (but would be easier if others could do so) :) This way, my work would be more in the lines of making sure that all the important useful information is shown (Tourist Information spots, Camping, Accomidations & Bike shops)

Because part of the Route Verte is also part of the Trans Canada Trail, it would be best to have it regional. However, all of the Trans Canada Trail segments can be connected with a relation route, so i think the biggest difference is visual, for when your looking at the cyclemap. .. the Regional Route needs to stand out more than the local routes and much more than the smaller connecting paths, but on a further zoom out, (canada wide, the TCT should be shown to the same extent that the Trans Canada Highway, and major highways are shown. (1 line superimposed ontop of the Route Verte Network)

Similar to in Nova Scotia, how they have announced that the Trans Canada Trail will become more of a Trans Canada Trail (Network of trails), the TCT in Quebec might just become like that. PEI is already like that, (not 1 solid line)
...So it makes it further confusing :)

P.S. Canada doesn't have a National Cycle Network... but does have provincial Cycle Networks. The TCT is run provincially (just with a common sticker)

Cool, sounds like a plan.
Highway=pedestrian is only used for roads which have been converted to pedestrian zones.
And that makes sence.. It assumed that any road which is not a highspeed motorway would allow pedestrians walking on eithor side... Regardless of the surface type.
So only when the path sllightly deviates from the route of the road does it need to be marked.
Cool.

I like how the new version of JOSM has all the options for highway=path :) this makes it much easier to figure out how to make it right.

Fortunatly, i only messed it up on a few spots, so i can fix up that.

Fortunately, the locals do leave the island. (me thinks)

I think it would be best to contact the user directly rather than posting here... odds are they might not see it. (View - and select the Data overlay layer and the WAY your referring too) i see your name on the route.
and YES, this is exactly why were all working so hard at making OSM right, as even physical signs are WRONG... not just old paper maps. :)

You have a point there, perhaps advertising the mapping party in a different light would have an impact. When (I will soon) post a mapping party, i want to post it on craigslist, and other local community sites. I would like to see GeoCachers help out by sharing there tracks. (as well as bmx mountain bikes and motercycles) (might not be interested in the naming of trails, roads. But their tracks are valuable). And they would provide inside on how it works as a different opinion.
Inviting outdoor clubs to be involved.. who are taking the trails anyay. Scouts is an example of a group, and geography students taking field trips.
So in summation, 2 types of mapping parties. 1 for the social and 1 for the technical details. But we could have a 3rd which is a mix. Afterall, GPS Users are anyone who wants to read a digital mobile map.

I think i covered it. Hosting or creating a "(local area) OpenSource Map Making Club" says the same thing... but would open the doors wider for anyone to join. ... 'cause it's not necessarily "fun" as in "excitement" but "fun" as i the way doing a crossword, or gigsaw puzzle is "enlightening". ... much different than the term "party". 'Cause yes. .. I dont think it's really a "party" in the creative sense.

From my experience so far. It seems that the difference between; say, geocachers, and OpenstreetMappers. .. i would think that Mappers are more right brained, and GeoCachers would be more Left-brained. .. Technical vs. creative.
For me, i dont understand the point of GeoCaching, as once i collected all the POI's, i can see it on a map.... so there is no need to physically find it. .. however going out and physically finding those trails/roads that aren't yet mapped, IS a challenge, and a fun competition between users. .. AND correcting the data is also fun (provided we play by the rules, and contact those other users to get input) ... just like the talk page for Wikipedia.

So I would agree with the previous post that yes, there is very little impact for OSM. And would want to add the point about those who are more technical oriented would be drawn to OpenStreetMap, becuause of its very nature.

.. OpenStreetMap is essentially a world-wide race to see how fast and accuratly we can map the world.

Engineers, Architects, survayers... any industry which involves looking at maps, and drawings, seems to be the technical type.

IMO, i would attend mapping parties, more for the technical networking, and learning from other (Gadget Nerds), most of which get excited about the latest and greatest new technology, and learning how it works collaboratively with other technology. ... probably those Ibuntu users (think that's where it started from). ... I have an interest in this because of my work with AutoDesk, AutoCAD.

I might recommend for future trips to keep the device off until you get to say.. the main road where you want to start recording. then when your done your day or travel, remember to turn off the device before you head home. This way your home is not shown, and just shows a vague area.
I use mapsource for when i need to trim the tracks, if needed more loading it to OSM.

Im thinking of getting a new GPS. Would you recommend this device?

1st part: I dont know :) ... just saying that having the base map switched from Navteq road map to openstreetmap will be awsome.. so the 1st part is that wikiloc is about showing overall routes.. and not defining what the roads that were taken are. .. just shows WHERE the roads are. .. but not necessarily from origional tracks. (any KML can be added). so switching the base map, will help . ... also trying to get other communities who currently use Google maps to switch out. ... hopefully :) Maybe hinting at other communities to start using OSM slippy map, would help the push for it?? (Bikely.com does the same & Everytrail.com too)

Ya, POI's.. would be great if everyone keeps on collecting the POI from OSM, then posting them onto POI collecting sites. .. as well as posting to GE community. ... I think i know how todo that with a planet dump download, then extract the similar POI. .. unless the POI is localized, then it would be a BBox.

For my Canada map... i'd like to switch out all the poi i included so then it all comes from OSM, so can actually print it CC-SA. (i've added that to my todo list)

Is there a list out there of all the poi collecting being done from OSM tags?
