I noticed there is a large polygon of the Amazon forest on OSM with no tags which does not seem very accurate and makes it hard to download data because it's so big: osm.org/way/446564263

I was thinking it would be better to have small features as a relation for the forest, or maybe something else, and this polygon could be deleted. What do you think?

Hello, I saw you recently edited this huge polygon: osm.org/way/354918304 -- is it supposed to be something? It's so large it makes it hard to download things in the area and there are no tags on it, and it doesn't seem to be part of any relations. Thanks.

Thanks, you're right. This node was previously listed as a "hamlet" which is not correct. I'll delete it.

Hi, it looks like you added three large square buildings in the forest but I don't see them. Do they exist?

Ah, interesting! The closest major road is secondary (osm.org/way/175127158) and that goes through Kaédi which is one of the largest cities in Mauritania. These villages look pretty small comparatively, so in my opinion it should be tertiary, even if it has been asphalted since it doesn't connect big places together.

Hi Severin. It seems like this road may be a little too rural and unimportant to be primary. It does not connect any of the bigger cities in the region, and looks unpaved. I think tertiary or secondary would be more appropriate, what do you think? Or maybe the imagery is outdated? Thanks!

Thank you!

Hi, this road doesn't match imagery here, can you take a look? osm.org/way/372792034

Hi Mahamane. I see you changed the A1 highway north of Sokoto to primary. In Nigeria, routes with the prefix ‘A’ should be tagged as trunk highways: osm.wiki/WikiProject_Nigeria#Official_classification

Thanks for mapping - make sure to zoom in though, that road already existed

Sounds great!

Hi there. How does the road condition make them primary? The Highway Tag Africa page you refer to says “A road topology should be based on the road importance and not the surface or visual appearance of a road.” I think keeping the main roads in the country as trunk is in line with the tagging system (and the existing trends) in Africa: osm.wiki/Highway_Tag_Africa -- let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hi lotfrance. Was it intentional to add 'RA=Main' to so many ways and nodes in Malawi? That tag is not used anywhere else and probably should not exist in OSM. If it was an accident, the changesets can be reverted which would be easier than deleting each tag individually.

In my opinion they are the most important roads in Niger and some of the most important roads in the region, which qualifies them as trunks. Nearby countries like Nigeria tag similar types of roads as trunks in OSM. This map shows how the overall route you changed to primary connects with neighboring countries: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-African_Highway_network#/media/File:Map_of_Trans-African_Highway_System_with_South_Sudan_included.png

Also, there were a few short ways that were missed when you were changing the classification: way 313737308, way 687334009, way 687333822, way 639237051, way 680910201, way 680910200, way 639237050, way 301775997.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Merci.

Hi Cole, thanks for the response, just wanted to make sure you were aware of the turn restrictions. I agree that it looks good now.

Мені цікаво, що є джерелом адрес. Це урядова база даних?

I am wondering what the source of the addresses is. Is it a government database?

Hello. Did you see my comment on this changeset? osm.org/changeset/67546010 Primary roads are roads that link large towns or are the most important arteries within a city. These roads should be unclassified.

70899258 about 6 years ago

Hi Tijn Bok. I’m going to change these classifications back to how they were. The roads upgraded to motorway and trunk are only controlled access for a short distance. The WikiProject Nigeria page says that only routes with the “E” prefix should be motorway: osm.wiki/WikiProject_Nigeria#Official_classification

Hello. You deleted a primary highway that was 67 kilometers long. Please be more careful. It has been undeleted: osm.org/way/38896753

70952953 about 6 years ago

Hi ilasolthah, why do you think the N6 is primary and not a trunk? It is the main route to the countries to the west and is part of the Trans Africa Highway.
