you can also just use gpsbabel or any other osm2kml tool and convert osm to kml and load it.

Thats AWESOME.
I have it overlayed with the kml OpenStreetMap overlay set to 25% transparency from http://www.mgmaps.com/kml/

@acrosscanadatrails that are some cool overlays in your kml

The xapi servers are down or very overloaded most of the time, so this script doesn't work at the most of the time.
