Changeset When Comment

Hi ScottProck,
It seems that it just took awhile for the name of the area to show up as I can see it now. Because of this, I removed the node you've added in this changeset.

Hi d1g1talm3rc,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I noticed in this changeset that you changed the building type for 1928 to a house. In this case, the building type was already correct as Detatched House is considered a more specific term for single family homes while House is more of a generic term. See more here:
osm.wiki/Key:building

Based on the imagery, this house is indeed a single family home. If you need any help, feel free to respond to this comment.

Hi again,
I have converted the lots you've created into plots and address points like I explained above in changeset 105507693: osm.org/changeset/105507693

105505791 about 4 years ago

Hi biasedhedgehog,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I appreciate the contributions you've made to the map so far. I noticed you added lots as houses. In OSM, houses are meant to outline the actual house building. OSM doesn't recommend adding lot areas, but if you really want to you can change these to plots. See this wiki page for more info:
osm.wiki/Tag:place%3Dplot

It is more common though to see address points for scenarios like these when buildings themselves don't yet appear in the imagery. If you need any help with this feel free to respond to my comment. Again, thank you for your contributions and happy mapping!

Hi again,
Thanks for replying. I understand how you're not familiar with this area. It is particularly difficult to distinguish townhouses and apartment buildings in this area from just the imagery. I do think, however, it's best if you tag buildings appropriately if you can obviously see what their purpose is.

105384304 about 4 years ago

Please disregard my comment, I see that you already know about building types based on other changesets.

Hi alex-galaxy,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I appreciate your contributions to the map so far. I just wanted to let you know in the future, you could add houses with building=house, or just house on the editor you're using, row houses, apartment buildings, etc. This isn't absolutely necessary, but is good practice. You can read more about the different types of buildings you can add here:
osm.wiki/Key:building

If you need any help, feel free to respond to my comment. Again, thank you for your contributions and happy mapping!

Thanks for updating the park boundaries and clarifying that that parcel is most likely privately owned. The path going through it threw me off a little and I was looking at 'bills' when I should've looked at 'payment history'.

Should say 'to avoid any confusion'

Hi Danno722,
Please remember to use more descriptive changeset comments than "jifow" in the future. I see you've been contributing to OSM for awhile and the majority of your changeset comments in the past year have been similar to this one.
More descriptive changeset comments help other mappers get a general sense of which elements of the map you have edited and avoid confusion. See this wiki page for more info:

Hi Saif alhattali,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap! It seems that you've mistakenly modified a parking lot in the United States, hence the large bounding box for this changeset. Based on the imagery for that area, a parking lot doesn't exist there. Please be more careful in the future when editing the map as other mappers might view edits like these as suspicious.

Also, it's good practice to have more descriptive changeset comments than just "S". See this wiki page for more information:

Hi iana24,

Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thank you for your work in trying to make OSM more accurate. I noticed that you added a note about the maximum length for this bridge and the adjacent roadway. I've added maxlength 'tags' on top of the notes you've added, and it will be of best practice to use these in the future. This is because notes are usually used for other editors, and not viewers of the map. When you select a roadway, you will be able to see the 'tags' by scrolling all the way to the bottom.

Additional information can be found on the wiki here:
osm.wiki/Key:maxlength

Feel free to respond to my comment if you need any help with this. Happy mapping!

Best regards,

Error in changeset comment, meant to write 'north' of OR-569, not south

Hi davmoochi,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I appreciate your work in helping make OSM more accurate. I recommend adding a 'point' for the foundation you added on top of the appropriate building instead of renaming the entire building as there seems to be other organizations in this building, such as Transitional Youth and Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. If these points are outdated and these organizations no longer reside in this building, you can just delete these points by selecting them and pressing ctrl+backspace. Feel free to reply to my comment if you need any help with this. Happy mapping!

Best regards,

Hi tguen,
Thank you for informing me of this and fixing it. I'll make sure to check if I made errors like these in other areas, sorry about that.

Also, thank you for resolving some of the notes I've opened up recently!

Hi sgallus,
I see that you're a new mapper like myself. Thank you for your contributions to this golf course!

However, I also noticed that this changeset also converts Century Drive and Cascade Lakes Highway into golf cart paths. According to the description of this tag, this is only to be used for ways exclusively for golf carts and are inside the golf course itself, which is not the case here. I have reverted these changes in changeset 99480572.

Hi, thank you for your help and feedback! I'm still trying to get a hang of what features to use for scenarios like these, so this is some useful information that I'll be sure to use in my future edits.

This is the website I use:
http://gisims.co.washington.or.us/InterMap/theDetails.cfm?GoNav=1

It's a little tedious to use, but all you have to do is select a taxlot in the residential area and click on Assessment & Taxlot info. The name should appear as the legal name.
