Changeset When Comment
53819989 over 7 years ago

Could you please use more descriptive changeset comments. 'Improvements' really is too brief.

53540902 almost 8 years ago

The fact you don't think the edit was important enough to discuss just shows how opinions differ. Mechanical edits upset mappers. Mappers are our most precious resource. See the rules here: osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct

You can start discussions on IRC or mailing lists. More info here: osm.wiki/Contact_channels

You MUST stop making these mechanical edits. These MUST be discussed before you make them. Revert this now

53540902 almost 8 years ago

THis is a mechanical edit, and against the mechanical edit rules. This MUST be discussed BEFORE you make these edits. I recommend this is reverted, then discussed and only if agreement is reached, make an edit like this.

53499077 almost 8 years ago

This looks like an undiscussed mechanical edit. You MUST discuss edits like this before you make them and get broad agreement in the area, GB in this case.

You MUST not assume the wiki is correct.

"Improvement of map accuracy" is not a very helpful changeset comment. How did you improve things? What did you improve? Is there a common thread to the edit?

It really helps reviewers.

This looks like a mechanical edit. Where was this discussed?

Undiscussed mechanical edits destroys confidence from other mappers. This should be reverted and discussed fully.

Your premise explaining why the international code is wrong. You can dial any number in the UK using only the area code (known as the STD code in the UK) and the local number. If you visit the UK with a roaming phone you still do not need the international code (+44). You only need that if you are calling from outside the UK.

Any edit of tags, whether keys or values, can be covered by the automated edit guidelines. Automated edits are also known as mechanical edits. I ask you to revert this edit as an undiscussed mechanical edit. I don't believe it is needed, but if you want to make this edit you must discuss it with GB mappers and get their general agreement. I will resist this edit. Please do not make any more of these edits until they are discussed.

I would suggest that these are highway footway, but not sidewalk. Sidewalk is a walkway beside a road. These are just footways.

This looks like an undiscussed mass edit.

Welcome to OSM.
We don't tag stuff twice, so adding the info to the building is good. There's no need to add a node too.

Hi,
You can add the tags to the whole building, rather than adding a node (map point) as well. If a building has more than one business or use then nodes make sense.

Private driveways can be mapped. When they are an obvious landmark, like that one, it can be added. The tagging may have been wrong, but rather than delete it, you could change the tagging. A private driveway would be tagged as: highway=service, service=driveway, access=private.

Welcome to OSM

Thanks for your additions and for improving the tagging.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

You appear to have added the whole garden surrounding the house as though it is a house. I would draw the building footprint as the house and if you want the garden then draw the outline of the garden and tag that as leisure=garden, access=private.

Welcome to OSM

If Daisy Court is a private road you can add access=private.

Wow, just how far are you going with this?

Read the link again. DOWNLOADED files are OGL, the web page you directed me to is copyright. I doubt anyone in the NHS would care, but you were prepared to use a copyright source before you then checked to try to climb out of the hole you just dug.

Just let this drop Mike, you were wrong, we both know you armchaired a change that you didn't or couldn't check. I have sorted it out let's leave it there.

51149076 almost 8 years ago

Which is why I added the name as the operator.

51149076 almost 8 years ago

The name on the shop says 'Chemist'. I know that because I have been there. You cannot use copyright sources to update the name. I will revert your change and ask the DWG to intervene if you use copyright sources in OSM again.
