Thanks for putting this restaurant in, but I think you have the cuisine set incorrectly What kind of cuisine does this place serve? Right now it's set as they serve "Restruant_Cuisine" food.

ADSS-IT, it seems like you're new to the project. Welcome.

But regarding this changeset, do you have evidence that there is a hospital with the name "a hospital that may have ebola in africa"? That doesn't seem like its a name that would be very popular with patients.

When you say surveys, do you mean your own surveying? If so, can you indicate that on a "source" tag on the changeset please?

As for the weird comment- it looks like you're using Merkaartor- which is basically an abandoned project- I suspect that's the issue.

This changeset has been reverted in changeset 26664064.

Paul,

Welcome to OSM! It's really great to have a new contributor on board.

Can you explain this changeset though? It appears the last 3 changes you've made (including this one) consist of nothing but a blank node.

Maybe if you explain what you were trying to do, I could help.

StefanR, welcome to OSM. It's great to see you editing so frequently. Could you please, when you hit Save in your editor, add a helpful comment about the change that you've made?

This will help other editors see your work and also, you can see their work based on their comments.

What are the sources of these trails? Also, what's with this odd changeset comment tag "BBOX....." - this seems like an automated edit of some sort...

Great catch!

Nakaner- on behalf of the DWG I am following up on a complaint about this changeset. As per my previous comment, a few things are obvious:

1. This is clearly a mechanical edit. Otherwise, the user would have had to go through and load up the entire world with their editor, looking for a specific feature. It's far more likely that they used eg Overpass to make this query and modify the objects.

2. Therefore, since this is a mechanical edit, we can look at the policy. The other examples you gave are all "obvious corrections", such as fixing Highway as a key to "highway". This is relatively harmless, though I would argue even this is something that should be discussed with the community if done en mass.

3. According to taglinfo there are 111 instances of railway=museum (which likely include these edits) and 113 instances of museum=railway, so I'd argue the tags are in about equal use.

Unilateral decisions to modify objects en mass to change their tagging is exactly the type of situation where the mechanical edit policy is in place to address.

So yes, the concern over this edit is the lack of community discussion around it, and w/o that discussion, it will be reverted. If there's community discussion around changing it, and there's general consensus in favor of it, then it will be allowed to go through in the future.

Geogast, as per the mechanical edit policy: osm.wiki/Mechanical_Edit_Policy has this edit been discussed with the community? If not, I'm afraid that it will be subject to reversion. Please let me know if there's a public discussion somewhere (a mailing list archive, forum post, etc.), or I'll be reverting on behalf of the OSM Data Working Group. Since I don't enjoy doing reversions, please let me know if there's a community discussion for this mechanical edit that I can point to?

I don't know if this is really your first OSM edit (it's your first one on this account). If so- this is a pretty amazing job. To indicate buildings are part of the same property, you could use something called a relation- which I can show you how to create (it's just a bit complex).

Otherwise, I'd just use a single node to represent the resort.

The problem with having it on every building is twofold. First, unless they each are named that, then it's not accurate. You could name each one what you call it internally, eg "Building 12" if there's a sign on it saying so.

The second and more glaring problem is that most of the time, the reason someone puts a name on an object is so that it's rendered with the name, so right now we have a bunch of buildings with the name of the resort, which reads too much like spam. Let me know, and I can also help fix it if you need help.

If each building has a name, like the "Caribu Lodge"- then go ahead and change the name to that. What are you trying to indicate- that these are lodges available as part of the resort?

26537333 over 10 years ago

Unless the name of every single of these buildings that have the name "Caribou Highlands Lodge Poplar Ridge Homes" on them, then this changeset is too spammy and will be reverted.

Please fix.

Can you please create meaningful changeset comments and or set the source tag on the changeset as source=bing?

That'll make it a lot easier for people to see why you're making these changes.

26523559 over 10 years ago

What is the source for these changes?

This is a huge changeset that spans continents without a changeset comment that includes things like deleting schools?

What is the source that you're going off of on this changeset?

I see that you're reclassifying roads, such as way 310882640. Is there a reason that
you're doing this? That road is clearly not an unclassified road as per the wiki definition:

osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dunclassified

Can you please explain your reason for reclassifying the roads?

Harry,

Thanks for adding this cafe, but the website seems wrong. Can you take a look at it?
