29612580 | over 10 years ago | What is the source of this changeset? |
29610762 | over 10 years ago | I don't know what that you mean by "using it as a pin point", but you can't use Google Maps at all, especially in the UK (as opposed to US law, which is more lenient in this area), Google also takes a very strict viewpoint when talking about their data, so you can't use Google Maps as a reference. |
29605652 | over 10 years ago | I won't implement a mechanical edit here, but I am saying that they need to fix the tagging and it should be relatively soon. My initial concern was "Is this an import?" but at this point its "This data is tagged poorly". When I hear about calling an in person meeting to discuss, I get worried about how long it will take to resolve this issue. I agree that training is your best bet here, but for the sake of these people's valuable time, it might make sense for you/your team to script a repair here. |
29605652 | over 10 years ago | @maning, I get worried when I hear "schedule an in person discussion" regarding time. This user is very active in their editing (which is fine) but there are real issues here- such as specifying source (is it really just using Bing imagery?) and there are a large number of tagging issues. As for going back- I would expect that the user go back and fix each of these. if they can't- then I'd think it'd be better to propose a mechanical edit- because as things stand, the data is improperly tagged. The saving grace may be that (hopefully) it's all mis-tagged in the same way, which would mean it'd be easy to mechanically fix- but I think we can agree that it shouldn't stay the way it is. |
29610762 | over 10 years ago | I realize you're a new mapper- are you aware that you aren't allowed to add data from Google Maps to OSM? |
29605652 | over 10 years ago | @manning- if this is not an import, that's fine, but it sure looks like an import based on the specificity and speed of the data being placed on the map. As for the edits themselves, the tagging is very "off". Do you/your group have a plan to fix/clean this data? |
29605384 | over 10 years ago | My question/concern is that it looks to me like an import. It looks like you made 3000 nodes in this changeset, with 245 buildings, each of which is very intricately drawn. While that's not impossible, it looks like it's more likely to be an import from another data set. Are you saying you drew each object from the Bing imagery? |
29605652 | over 10 years ago | Where is the source of this data?
|
29605578 | over 10 years ago | I don't recall this import being discussed on the import list or having an import page on the wiki. If it was, can you point it out to me. If it wasn't, it needs to stop until it can be reviewed by the community. |

29604877 | over 10 years ago | When you say Bing Maps, do you mean the imagery in JOSM or Bing Maps the website? |
