Despite the fact that I've had an extreme interest in maps since I was very small, I have only just discovered Openstreetmap. What a fantastic concept, I thought, and realising I could add to it myself with my GPS receiver, I thought it was right up my street (pun intended).
I live in rural East Northamptonshire, an area dotted with small villages and market towns. These are very poorly mapped on Openstreetmap at present, with many minor roads missing and entire villages not even marked, not to mention the myriad of country footpaths that cover the area, so I'm going to take this opportunity to get the area covered. I'll start with my home village and move onto the surrounding small towns. I hopefully should be able to improve the coverage in Kettering and Wellingborough, which at the moment is also quite sparse.

Cool :) Always good to hear about new contributors, especially when they are well placed to map areas with poor coverage at the moment! :)
I've always found maps fascinating too. I can look at them for hours. :-$

Grebble - good luck - this is a highly addictive pastime - once you start......
If you need any assistance just ask the group - I am Windows / Josm / GPSBABEL / Garmin HCX user - and upload my OSMs to my Garmin using the converter MKGMAP - all tools listed are Freeware and work well, though it does take a little time to get to grips with it all - I am one of those mapping Dhaka and general Bangladesh ( I have been working here for about a year ) - best regards - bri
