Parks and Rivers

English телендә hankcurt20 January 2009 баҫылып сыҡты.

I added a couple of small parks in South East Omaha today. Also starting tracing the Missouri River bank outline, working north from the Douglas County line. It's nice to see some color on osmarender.

I also noticed that a bridge I did the other day did not render correctly without the layer=1 tag. This is confusing on the osm.wiki/Bridge page. It seems to first imply the tag isn't needed, but further down says it is a good idea if the bridge crosses any other features on the map. I plan to just add it automatically from now on.

Also noticed the freeways and interstate highways around Omaha are a mess. They may look correct, but some have the wrong direction and others have junctions with the wrong ramps or other problems.

You just need to use the layer tag if your bridge actually crosses something else. And if that something else is tagged layer=-1, there's no need to put a layer tag on your bridge.

Thanks for the reply robx,

This bridge passes over a set of railroad tracks that are on layer 0 by default. What I noticed was that the street that is on the bridge would render correctly ( over the tracks ), but the lines that run alongside the bridge, to show it is a bridge, rendered under the tracks in osmarender. Adding the layer=1 tag to the bridge caused the lines alongside the bridge to render correctly. Don't know if this is just a problem with osmarender or not as I haven't seen it with mapnick yet since I just started mapping.
