I agree, BlaueBlüte -- I've just reverted to footway with appropriate bicycle tags, changeset 80117201

Hi bhilton... I noticed you removed the tags for the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project from osm.org/node/6798051745 . Their website still claims they are at this location, is this no longer true?

Hi, just noticed this pedestrian street with an expiration date. I haven't surveyed myself but as far as you know this is back to a residential road now?

Hi hofoen -- is there fresh aerial data suggesting that these buildings should be square in the back, or is this maybe a mistake? Mapbox imagery is the most recent as far as I know, and it still shows the canted angles on the side of 120 and the backs of 122 and 124.

I couldn't find any specific tag for wine storage so I just tagged it as storage rental and added a description.

Definitely better not to have it tagged as craft=winery, though, so it won't come up if someone's trying to do a tour of wineries.
(Seems like there's only two on https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/PxO but I think there are a couple missing.)

Hi AV, is this really a winery? From the website it appears that it's just a place to store wine.

Hi again, your "minor adjustments" in this changeset and 78855691 include removing the names from 8 bus stops, in addition to the bus stop names you removed in changeset 78855654. What's the source for these changes? Has the signage changed on these bus stops?

78855654 over 5 years ago

Hi tylerchill -- did you mean to remove the name from these two bus stops? If so, do they no longer have names?

Hi happygo -- I think amenity=cafe is actually the best tag we have at the moment for Setugekka and other teahouses. Shop=tea is meant for a store that sells tea leaves to be brewed at home.

There's a proposal underway for amenity=teahouse but it's sort of stalled for now.

(See osm.wiki/Tag:shop%3Dtea and osm.wiki/Proposed_features/Teahouse )

By the way, thanks for all of your edits and additions in NYC! Jmapb

I've fixed the inscription based on the photo at the parks dept website. If I'm mistaken and this plaque has changed to the nonsensical version that I removed, please let me know.

Hi Djbeadle, what's up with the inscription you wrote for this monument: osm.org/node/7058463050

"restaurants around New York screw your support" ??

Pretty sure that's not what it says.

78231588 over 5 years ago

Hi flaixsimon, welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for adding these bars and restaurants.

In this changeset you've added a restaurant called Zenkichi to an existing address node that had the address 77 North 6th Street 11249. In addition to adding the restaurant, it seems you changed the zip code to 11211.

11211 was the old zipcode for this area of Williamsburg. That zip code was split ten years ago (pretty recently as zip code history goes) with everything on the west side of Bedford becoming 11249. So 11249 is the correct zip code for this location.

Is it possible you're getting your restaurant info from an outdated source?

If I can help clear up this or anything else, let me know, happy to help.

Thanks, jmapb

Hi narle, welcome to Open Street Map!

As requested, I'm reviewing this change you made to the map. You've added a small building behind 237 Putnam, but I don't see any building there on recent aerial imagery. Is this building new?

Thanks, J

Hi Sanjay, thanks for your interest in OpenStreetMap.

Please realize that the changes you make affect the actual map data used by millions of people worldwide. So don't map things that aren't real.

I've reverted the changes you've made here. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi brandonbds -- What's the thinking behind tagging all these ferry routes as access=destination? Thanks, j

76770016 over 5 years ago

Hello DACDTC. You seem to be adding a bunch of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream locations around NYC. But there are several problems with these additions.

1 - This appears to be an import of data into the map. OSM requires imports to be discussed beforehand with the import mailing list. See osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines
2 - These appear to be what we call "organised edits" on the behalf of a particular organisation. Please read osm.wiki/Organised_Editing and follow the guidelines there as well.
3 - You're not using any changeset comments. Please use changeset comments.
4 - You're not setting a "created_by" tag on your changsets. Please set this tag with a description of the software used to make the edits.
5 - You're not setting a "source" tag on your changsets. Knowing the source of data is vital to ensure that OSM has a license to use that data. This includes the source of the map coordinates used to place the nodes in question. This is especially important for imports.
6 - Some of the locations you've added are already on the map. Please don't double-map.
7 - The website links you're adding seem to contain referrer links -- this is not allowed. Please use the minimal URL that will specify the location in question.
8 - You're tagging these "amenity=amenity|ice_cream". This is nonstandard tagging and is highly unlikely to be parsed or rendered in any useful way.

Please reply with your plan to address these issues, thanks, jmapb

Hi rbest, welcome to OSM!

There were a couple of problems with this changeset, so I've reverted the changes with changeset 76609305.

Specifically, all of the cycle paths you mapped are already on the map. Note that not every cycle path has to be mapped as a highway=cycleway. Very often they're indicated with other tags (such as bicycle=designated) added to another kind of highway=* way.

Also, you connected one cycleway directly to the underground tracks of the F train -- careful about connecting ways on different levels.

Please let me know if you have any question, happy to help!

Hi sainiyam! I've reverted this changeset. It appears the roads you drew were from outdated imagery (Bing.)

The most up-to-date aerial imagery in NYC at the moment is Mapbox Satellite followed closely by ESRI World and NY State Orthos, which have the same imagery at the moent (ESRI's is better resolution but NY State has better alignment.)

(Hah, sorry, typed "Kings" instead of "Kingston", too much time in Brooklyn...)

HI kataplexis, welcome to OSM! I reviewed this and connected your park parts into a single multipolygon ( osm.org/relation/10247656 ) with the land boundary as the outer way and the water boundary as the inner way.

Two questions though --
1) Are you sure the bit you added south of the water is actually part of Kings Point Park, not just part of the Kings Point Rail Trail?

2) Currently there's no connection between the park paths and the rail trail except at this bridge: osm.org/way/188697910
If it's possible to walk from this footpath: osm.org/way/20204429
...onto the rail trail, it would be good to extend the footpath and connect them up.

Let me know if you have any questions, J
