New MapRoulette challenge idea: exit_to > destination

Vum mvexel matgedeelt de(n) 17. September 2015 op English. Lescht Aktualiséierung de(n) 28. September 2015

K1wi’s recent diary showed us how the use of destination is catching up with exit_to in the US for exit sign tagging:

I am excited about this! You may recall that I am very much in favor of destination on the _link way to tag exit signs rather than exit_to on the junction node.

I’ve come up with an idea to squash the remaining exit_to-tagged nodes in the US and move the exit sign info to a destination tag.

No scripting. No funny stuff.

A MapRoulette Challenge!

This is what it would look like:

What do you think? How can the instructions be improved?

Good point! That should definitely be explained as well. Thanks.

junction:ref=* as well! As you previously pointed out, it does obviate which direction the exit leaves the trunk or motorway!

You mean junction:ref as described here?

I am not quite convinced we need it. But I do agree that it’s cleaner to have all exit info on the way rather than spread out across way and junction node.

Would require a main map style update that is probably non-trivial.

I’m pretty much convinced we need it because of the offside exit problem and navigation. However, for rendering purposes, motorway_junction’s still going to be necessary.
