Is it possible to have access to statistics about the application of tags to GPS traces?
Posted by vVvA on 15 April 2013 in English. Lეკონიას გეახალჷ 18 April 2013-ის.The tagsinfo site is pretty good for showing the stats for the tags of geographic objects in OSM. However it does not show information about tags applied to GPS traces. I wonder if it is possible to have access to this kind of information. I am trying to figure out what is the frequency of application of the “walking” and the “cycling” tags in the GPS traces that are uploaded to OSM. Thanks, /andres

Good question - I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think there’s any easy way (not without resorting to importing the full GPX data into your own Database and running queries against it – eek! – see http://github.com/iandees/planet-gpx-dump for the gory details)

Thanks for your reply robbieonsea. I will ask in the help site to see if there is a way to gather this kind of information without having to import the full GPX data and then run queries against it. That will be a time consuming process indeed!
