61465291 | almost 2 years ago | I was referring to your comment / question. The name is accurate, although I admit it is not the most sensitive name from a US standpoint. It is the official name in South Africa. |
61465291 | almost 2 years ago | Is this a joke or a serious question? |
82447976 | almost 3 years ago | On that specific way I can not say with certainty we looked at the road. Most often there will be Mapillary nearby since we run cameras continuously (unless a camera fails and turns off for some technical issue). For the way you linked to, the closest mapillary image is on the main road and not captured by Kaart. https://www.mapillary.com/app/?pKey=951301192336980 |
82447976 | almost 3 years ago | Kaart conducted the survey in 2020, with an objection of adding new names by visual verification to street missing names. Streets that had previous names would be left as they were tagged or updated with a new observed name. |
82447976 | almost 3 years ago | I'll note, it appears the names were extended out to residential roads based on naming convention in the area. Meaning that systematic assumptions may be used to fill out road names based on numeric naming conventions. I can't say exactly for this area, but in many parts of the region that can be an accurate approach to filling in missing road names. Thanks for your attention to the issue regardless of outcome. |
35307400 | almost 4 years ago | Typically yes. The new example you are providing is not incorrect, it is just not the way you would like features to be mapped. The businesses did exist in 2015 and the tags placed on polygon was the method used at that time. You are welcome to shift them to points if you prefer the tags applied that way. Keep well. |
35307400 | almost 4 years ago | @mariotomo I also believe it is appropriate if you are going to change names, then you put the previous name in the old_name or alt_name tag so that the record is not lost. This would be the correct way to make an edit in OSM. Please go back and adjust your edits accordingly for the community. Thank you. osm.wiki/Key:name |
35307400 | almost 4 years ago | Mostly because in 2015 when this edit was made there was a green street sign that showed the name as "Calle 46 Este". Names may have changed since that time, which is possible, and so if you have updated imagery to confirm your name change please share. https://www.mapillary.com/app/?pKey=395377918168842 |
35492132 | almost 4 years ago | This is also why some streets are missing roads when a person might guess on continuance of naming system. I decided to not guess on names, and leave them without. |
35492132 | almost 4 years ago | Agreed, but using "Ave" as an abbreviation isn't good because it can mean bird too. So it gets complicated to guess on items. Which is why I only input what I saw on the street signs and didn't try to make up or imply a system that wasn't clearly visible. Thanks. |
35492132 | almost 4 years ago | Hi. I believe these were input based on what was observed on the street signs while in Panama. Mapillary is down right now but imagery should be visible as well there. |

67068861 | over 6 years ago | Hi. We all appreciate the vigilance in overseeing OSM data. We had 2 teams (2 vehicles) that conducted groundwork in Bucharest for 7 days each. The purpose was to collect data and improve it for all to use. Imagery is uploaded to Mapillary through the Kaartcam organization account. https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=44.44402863081467&lng=26.114953518360608&z=9.58088934992211 Would you please pause on your reverts and work directly with us to determine any data issues that might exist? We can do this together to ensure that good data isn’t destroyed and any errors in editing is corrected by Kaart and the community. Thank you. |

63023556 | over 6 years ago | spuddy93, would you look at this area and ensure that no data for the surrounding businesses were improperly deleted?
You can ask Your Village Maps about any data that should have remained. Thanks.
