Hi all, I’ve tried to use openmaps inmy GPS, and i’ve discovered that to find a street I nedd to type ‘Via Konrad Adenaurer’ in the street window. I suggest to modify it - it should be sufficient to type ‘Adenauer’.

Ciao wojmar, welcome to OSM!
Well, where is the street? What about you just change it by yourself if you know that this street is named otherwise (look on the street signs - not on other maps). Do you need any help?
If you cannot edit yourself, leave a note - it is on the symbol bar bottom on the osm.org map page, see osm.wiki/IT:Notes

Hi, I use Garmin nuvi 1350 poratble GPS device. When I need to insert my destination address, I neet to type city, and street name. With openstreet maps: The street name I must type as described above, otherwise it doesn’t find it. With Navteq maps ( received along with GPS): the selection of streets that met what i’ve typed in is presented, and I can choose what I need. If it is possible to change - please let me know. I think that it must me a setting in GPS, but related to the maps, as it works in different way in relation to the map loaded

The streetname “Via Konrad Adenauer” in Openstreetmap is totally correct. The search function just is too stupid to search by partial matches. The underlying problem is that the Garmin map format is not documented and had to be reverse engineered. The fact that address search works at all is the result of weeks of hard work of unpaid volunteers. Yes a more comfortable address search would be nice. But that is very unlikely to happen without some help from Garmin.

Maybe it could also be improved by some change in the Garmin software. However, the full street name should be at OSM. Everything else (fault tolerant search) is up to the software. A minor exception (likely not relevant here) are other/alternative/common short names for the street, see osm.wiki/Names#Key_Variations
