Question about importing Waterways from Canada's Geogratis data
Posted by z-dude on 13 January 2011 in English.I'm interested in getting the waterways imported for the Terrace Kitimat to Stewart area imported. osm.org/?lat=54.5498657226562&layers=O&lon=-128.930053710938&zoom=8 because I'm familiar with this area.
How do people do it (the bulk import)? Is it like running a script?
When they do a bulk import, is it a lot of work?

Hm, let me state it this way, the answer is well it depends.
It could be fairly easy, but it could be also a lot of work.
It is certainly possible to do a lot of things wrong with bulk imports so you need to be careful.
While I could probably help you, I would assume that you are probably better of contacting people who already did imports in an area near you.

Yes, giggls is right. I think it would be best to contact a user in your area who has done a bulk import like yours.

When you have prepared dadat for a mass import, please ask first at one of the OSM mailing lists whether your aims and the choosen way to import is acceptable.
