So far state of Map Africa has always being the most exciting event, since I initially attended one in 2018.Great appreciations to all the organizers, you guys are really doing an amazing job.

I do believe we all know something but we all don’t know everything, thus worthy learning everyday. I just can’t ignore SOTMA for its contribution in my knowledge and skills on GIS and mapping a large, since it has always played a big part in highlighting me with new knowledge every time I get to attend the conference.

This year I was not so lucky to attend all the sessions in SOTMA but still for the sessions I managed to, it was worthy attending. Special thanks to all the speakers of the conference mostly especially OMDTZ, Laura, Tony John and Enock you guys highlighted me a lot.

My name is Michael Leo from Tanzania. As a Crowd2Map Volunteer I had the opportunity to attend the conference #StateOfMap2021, it was a unique experience where for the first time I could see many experts from various areas related to data in one place, I did not know that the mapping area was too large. I saw even Tanzanians in the conference thus made me eager to actively participate so as to see what are they doing in mapping.

Well, many sessions marked me but in particular those involving development of solutions using programming language, I hardly knew that with the knowledge I have in coding and database could do a lot of things with data, for me it was a wake-up call. It was from this awakening that I decided to explore further this area of development of solutions using data, research more about what I can do with the mapping data here in Tanzania specifically in Mwanza to help in the development. With regard to networking it was possible to create networking, for an exchange of experience in the area, where it was possible to have a view also of what I can do mapping.

Congratulations to the whole team, for the beautiful organization, was all very well organized from the sessions until the presentations made, it was very good to know that there are so many people or a united group in the area of mapping and for the development of solutions for society.

watu wengi hawafahamu njia hii rahisi kusaidia jamii zao hususani kwenye jamii maskini ambazo mara nyingi hu athiriwa na majanga kama mafuriko.

openstreetmap ni moja wapo wa jukwaa ambazo humpa mtu uwezo wa kuchangia kwa kuchora ramani za maeneo tofauti kama nyumba na barabara. Kupitia jukwaa hili watu tofauti katika kila fani hutumia taarifa hizi kusaidia jamii hizi.

Mwaka 2020, kwa mara ya kwanza tulifanya mkutano wa hali ya ramani mtandaoni! Mwezi Julai mwaka huu, Mkutano huu (SotM 2021) pia utafanyika mtandaoni (tarehe rasimi zitatangazwa katikatu ya mwezi february).

Sura ya SotM ni, kwa kweli, nembo yake: kipengee cha picha kinachotambulika ambacho kinawakilisha uhai na hali ya mkutano wa ulimwengu wa mwaka huo. Kwa sababu hii, tunahitaji msaada wa akili nyingi za ubunifu katika jamii kutengeneza nembo (logo) mpya ya SotM 2021!

Kazi kubbwa ilikua ni kukusanya taarifa kwa GPS kisha kuziingiza taarifa zilizokosekana (missed informations) Katika ramani inayoandaliwa ya tandale ndani ya mtaa wa Muhalitani. taarifa zenyewe ni kama VYOO, (TOILETS), Maduka (shops and phermacies), vinjia vidogo vidogo (Footpaths), na taarifa muhimu nyinginezo.

Shughuli kubwa hii leo ilikua ni kutresi nyumba na footpats ktk eneo la Muhalitani. njia zimeingizwa kwa umakini pamoja na baadhi ya majengo kama Msikiti na makazi ya watu.

Leo tuligawanyishwa katika magroup na si tulienda kuchukua njia za mtaa wa Kwa tumbo ambapo tulikuwa tukitumia GPS wakati tukitembea na GPS ilikuwa inajichora. Pia tulikuwa tunachukua point za muhimu kama Maduka, Shule, Matenki ya Maji, Bar, Shule za kiislam, n.k.
Tulipoludi kutoka Site, tukazidownload izo data na kuanza kuzitumia tukitrace kwenye ramani.

Bado tunaendelea ns ku update(kuifanya ya kisasa) raman ya tandale mtaa wa Muhalitani.

Leo nimefanikiwa kutengeneza ramani inayoonyesha matumizi tofautitofauti ya ardhi yaliyopo katika mtaa wa Muhalitani uliopo Tandale Dar es salaam Tanzania.Matumizi yaliyopo katika mtaa wa tandale ni biashara,makazi,mchanganyiko wa biashara na makazi.Njia tulizozitumia kutengenezea ramani hizo ni kwanza tulienda eneo la Muhalitani na vifaa vya kutengeneza ramani ambavyo ni GPS, Camera, na baada ya kuchukua data tulitumia programu ya openstreetmap kutengenezea ramani za Muhaltani.
