Noch ein Hinweis: die Zufahrtsstraße in das Tal war bisher als hw=track gemappt. Das ist aber, unabhängig von etwaigen access-Beschränkungen, unangemessen, da diese Straße auch als Zufahrt zu den zahlreichen Garten/Wochendenhäusern dient. Daher muss diese Straße mindestens (!) als hw=service getaggt werden, was hier im Changeset geschehen ist.

Mein Kommentar („hey, Leutchen …“) war nicht als herablassende Kritik gemeint, sondern als Ausdruck des Erstaunes darüber, dass Ortschaften so durcheinander geraten können. Kann mir auch passieren … aber gut, wenn wir es bemerken und korrigieren.

Some of the problems I found in this area (there may be more of them around!), and which I tried to fix, at least the most important ones:

— The words ‘village’ or ‘hamlet’ etc. should not be appended to the name=* Tag. For this classification we have got the place=* tag. The name=* tag should be used for the pure name only.

— highway=living_street was used to mark residential areas. This is nonsense; this tag should be used for living streets only (cf. our OSM wiki). For the outline of residential areas, we use landuse=residential, and for most residential highways, highway=residential.

— The landuse=* tags should NOT be used according to the colour the default renderer uses, to ‘paint’ a colourful map. We use the according to their meaning. Therefore changed many landuse=meadow to the more appropriate landuse=farmland here. Some areas which were tagged with landuse=farm or =farmland seem to be just desert, so removed the (wrong!) tag.

— Landuse areas should not overlap. I could not remove all overlaps, but at lease some of the bigger ones I have fixed.

— Streams should be tagged with waterway=stream or =ditch, as appropriate. Some of them were mapped with highway=road in this area.

— And some more stuff like that.

something I forgot to mention (sorry):
landuse=farm will not be rendered anymore on osm.org soon, and other renderers/map variants will probably follow. Therefore we are currently updating the remaining landuse=farm objects in OSM (see e.g. osm.wiki/NoFarm_cleanup_efforts). Naturally, this is done in the best way by people knowing the county themself.

Therefore I wanted to ask you:
Would you like to update the remaining landuse=farm objects in Kazakhstan? That would be great!

You can easily find all landuse=farm areas by overpass turbo: go to http://overpass-turbo.eu/ and paste this (or similar) code into the text field at the left:

Then click on "Execute", then on "Export" and select "JOSM" from the list. Given that JOSM is already running, JOSM will load all the landuse=farm objects found by the query, and you can inspect and update them. We suggest not to change all objects at once but to inspect them one by one comparing them to the aerial imagery, because not every landuse=farm is really a landuse=farmland. Most times, landuse=farmland is right, but sometimes landuse=farmyard or even =residential etc. will match better.

I just wanted to inform you that landuse=farm is deprecated (because it is and always was very misleading). Please use either landuse=farmland or landuse=farmyard, as appropriate. You can find more details about all these tags in our OSM wiki, e.g. at

I am sorry but I had to revert this (only this!) changeset made by you because you accidentally damaged no less than 11 border relations – i.e. the administrative borders of the Far-Western Development Region, of the Mid-Western Development Region, of Bheri, Seti, Bardiya, Kailali, Pasupati Nagat, Patabhar, Rajapur, Tikapur, and Daulatpur. Hallo Sammelmuetze, es wäre toll, wenn Du im Changeset-Kommentar genauer erklären könntest, was Du gemacht hast („corrected street(s)“ ist, hust, seeehr allgemein ;-). Solche überregionalen Korrekturen können sehr wertvoll sein, es ist aber auch sehr schwer, sie von Vandalismus und Verschlimmbesserungen zu unterscheiden, da sie Tools wie Achavi überfordern. Kleinere Gebiete wären sehr gut und genauere Changeset-Kommentare wären hilfreich, damit andere Mapper Deine Arbeit richtig verstehen und würdigen können. Viele Grüße -- Chrysopras

Ich habe erst nach dem Hochladen kapiert, was hier wirklich gelaufen war (sorry), daher habe ich diese Änderung nochmals verbessert: siehe osm.org/changeset/47805575

Der erste Abschnitt dieser Straße vom Kreisverkehr im Osten bis zur T-Kreuzung mit der Gänsäckerstraße wurde in OSM bisher zur
Gottlob-Steinmetz-Straße gerechnet, in Maps4BW dagegen zur Gänsäckerstraße. Dass die Darstellung in Maps4BW weitaus plausibler ist, sieht man an den Hausnummern, bei denen wir ein Problem hatten: wir hatten 2-mal die „Gottlob-Steinmetz-Straße 7“, und es war auch sehr seltsam, dass die „Gottlob-Steinmetz-Straße 7“ schon so weit südwestlich liegt, und dass an der Gänsäckerstraße so früh die Nr. 15 kommt, ohne dass davor Platz für die ungeraden Nummern 1 bis 13 gewesen wäre. Daher hat Maps4BW höchstwahrscheinlich recht, und ich bin mal so kühn, dies zu ändern. Falls ich mich doch irre, bitte ich um eine Nachricht (dann revidiere ich das) und um eine Erklärung, wie die Hausnummern hier funktionieren, denn dann wären sie ja mehr als seltsam. ;-)
