I could do with a helping hand | If you have watched the videos, I’m willing to help via video chat or something similar. Osm is made to be editable by everyone. Just contact me via pm if you want. |

osm license update | As compdude said, you agreed to the CT. The CT says you will only add data of which you OWN the copyright, so if you find ODBL or CC-BY-SA licensed data, you can’t add it because you don’t own the copyright. The CT also says that the OpenStreetMap Foundation has the power to change the license to whatever they want, whenever they want, if the licence change is supported by 75% of active mappers. And they are going to use this part of the CT to change the licence to ODBL. |

Do it right or not at all | I don't agree. I've corrected a lot of mistakes too, and I've always done it with pleasure. When I saw a complete network added to OSM, but without any node connected, I contacted the user and told him what was wrong, then I used my experience to repair it with ease. When I saw streets added with wrong tags (e.g. unclassified instead of path), I contacted the editor, told him what was wrong and corrected it. I'm constantly guarding my own surroundings, and I try to help users when they make a mistake. But I always encourage them to keep editing, as that's the only way our user base will be big enough to keep the database maintained. |

JOSM: Add a relation to an object / Eine Relation zu einem Objekt hinzufügen | at the left, you should have a relation symbol. something tooth-wheel like, quite low in the list. if you enable that, you will see a list with all relations in your dataset at the right (maybe it's collapsed). to add objects to the relation, just select them and use the "edit" button below the list (first select the right relation in the list too naturally). to add a new relation, you have a "new relation" button. |

OSM, my new hobby. OSM开放式地图,我的新爱好 | How is the data quality in China? Btw, I won't receive notifications, so if you want to mail me, you can use the OSM PM system, or just mail to sanderd17[AT]gmail[DOT]com. |

How do you place a webcam on the map? | amenity isn't a good tag, the above is ok. Amenity is meant for something worth visiting. A webcam (=the hardware) isn't worth visiting. |
|
Start | Roads and road names are very useful for navigation (routing software). Names (on POI and streets) are important for the search engine to work. And the most beautiful maps get rendered when you really add landuse data and other surfaces (like buildings). So it's up to you what you want. In the beginning, it will go a bit together (you need the basic road infrastructure for all services), but after a while you can specialise on one thing, or try different things. It doesn't make a lot of difference how you start, as OSM is a project that will continue to grow. So just do what you want to do. As long as you don't destroy other data, we're happy. |
|
Start | You're certainly welcome to do so. There are lots of places in OSM with missing data, but you should only add data around regions you know. That's the only way OSM will become better then all other alternatives. So if that's a place you know quite well, and if it has a bit of missing data, you're welcome to add what you know. |

Pink dotted line in Waverley Road | That boundary should be closed though. A boundary that just stops is not a good boundary. |
|
Videomapping | If you add your information to the Wiki, it's there to stay (maybe you did, I didn't look for it). |

More satellite imagery in Bing! | All the images in Belgijm are from last summer. so very good. |
|
Bing maps | Great, the same is true for Belgium. Bing really has great images. |

Google Maps guilty in France of abusing the dominant position of its mapping service | Damn, why can't I edit my posts. I meant "nobody will LOSE money" instead of "use money". |
|
Google Maps guilty in France of abusing the dominant position of its mapping service | Also, if OSM get accused, we can let the OSM Foundation down and take the data into a new project. I don't believe anyone will use money with the current setup. We will just lose a bit of popularity (as our name will suddenly change). |
|
Google Maps guilty in France of abusing the dominant position of its mapping service | Google also gets data from Teleatlas. Yet, Google has to pay, not Teleatlas. I believe the same will apply to us. |
|
Why no default frequency for powerlines? | As app, you can implement it that way when it's not tagged. I don't see the problem here. |
|
Google Maps guilty in France of abusing the dominant position of its mapping service | No, as we can't abuse our dominant position. The OSM foundation can't make any profit. So there is no way they could accuse us of that. |

NEW "MAPPER" CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA | There is a tool that checks if data is correct or not: http://keepright.ipax.at/ It will find most problems (and give you warnings when something is not clear). Sometimes the tool is wrong though (it can e.g. suggest that two roads need to be connected, while in reality, they aren't). It's up to you to decide what is right or wrong. The flooding of the see is maybe a not-closed area. Keepright should find that. But it's also possible that it's a problem with the navigation software. (e.g. they only downloaded a part of the world, and there is a part of the area missing, which causes the see to flood the land). As there are so many tools, I would suggest you look at the other parts of the map, and at the wiki to know if your tagging is correct. If the tagging is correct, the tool you use is wrong. You don't need to map for the tool (not for the renderer, nor for any navigation app). For your specific question, maybe go to the help center and post your question with the coordinates and screenshots (or photo's) of that area in the app. |
