Logotipu de OpenStreetMap OpenStreetMap

Today was a day of combo-mapping:
1) Yahoo overlay,
2) Surveying on foot with a camera and paper,
3) and looking from the roof of my house!

At least I managed to get a decent start.
Things will get easier with the GPS logger that I ordered...

P.S:
The names on the street signs here are all in capital letters like this:

ΟΔΟΣ ΑΓΙΩΝ ΠΑΝΤΩΝ

I wonder if it would make sense, to tag them like this:

name=ΟΔΟΣ ΑΓΙΩΝ ΠΑΝΤΩΝ (what is written on the street sign > Easy to recognise!)
name:gr=Οδός Αγίων Πάντων (the correct name written properly)
name:en=Odos Agion Panton (English transliteration)
translation:en=All Saints Road (maybe English translation?? Is there a consensus on this?)

There's a page on multilingual names (osm.wiki/Multilingual_names) and also transliteration codes (osm.wiki/Transliteration_code)

I think the last two are mixed up. They should be:
name:en=All Saints Road (or whatever the translation is)
name:gr_bgn=Odos Agion Panton

I'm just picking BGN as a possible system of transliteration from the wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization_of_Greek

See these sites:
osm.wiki/Japan_tagging#Names
osm.wiki/WikiProject_Laos#Names

Basically what imroy recommends but with name:gr_rm (for romanized) instead of name:gr_bgn

name:gr_rm=Odos Agion Panton
name:en=All Saints Road

I would not use all capital letters, except where it is really the official writing. That the names are printed in upper-case on street signs is just a representation of the "real" names.

Thanks for the comments!
I was discussing also a little in the IRC channel. They mostly agree with the above.

I'm starting forming a coherent model in my head. I will write up a summary on the [[Talk:Key:name]] page after tomorrow.

Gia sac. Mostly I agree with Marc Schütz, no capital letters. When I've started contributing Crete OSM (some years ago, JOSM) I have seen lots of name: with Greec letters, name:en with English letters, name:ru with Russian letters, name:de and others common laguages. I'm agree with any concept, just choose most popular, so now continuing this kind of naming and think that this tagging system have minimum conflicts with others and easy recognisible in software necessaires (bots, renders or file conversion with language filtering-adoptation).
