Hi Luke,
Thanks!
There definitely needs to be more routes mapped, a-lot of new projects like Safe Active Streets, bicycle boulevards, new paths, bike lanes etc. There's something called Your Move now which has some info about safe / good roads and paths for bikes. Looking at a few of these, and considering they hadn't been updated to reflect the Department of Transport dropping support for the PBN a few years ago, their irrelevance in light of these new projects and considering that really all there was of them on the ground were some albeit incomplete signage, as well as many of them needing updates as the relations had had issues come up over the years, I considered it alright to remove the PBN. I was hoping when I get free time over the next few months to update it based on Your Move and the most recent information available. The great thing about OSM is that anyone is free to make changes, so if people want to add some new bike routes that would be fantastic! The inclusion of the PBN was no longer relevant. I don't feel it necessary for me to get personally involved on the mailing list re the Wiki changes, I am confident that if there are changes or revisions which need to be made or discussed they will be, and do not need my involvement.

Hi Luke :)
Thanks for you feedback,
To add to this I would like to add that the Department of Transport has stopped supporting and referencing these routes. The latest information on these routes is about 7 years old, and itself was copied on from the most recent modifications in the late 2000s / early 2010s.
The Perth Bicycle Network was part of a State Government political push in the mid 1990s, support for and maintenance this has declined since then.
The only thing that remains of these routes are the old signs which were installed. There is no special infrastructure.
I am a regular cyclist, and someone who lives in Perth, I followed a great number of these routes to check before undertaking this edit, signage is incomplete and new signage is not installed, vandalised signage is not replaced, and it is the responsibility of the local governments, who have largely moved onto other cycling initiatives and projects. OSM was one of the few places where the PBN is still referenced.

Hi Ds5rUy.
This was deleted for the following reasons.
->The routes are just routes, and do not serve any practical function or any purpose in reality, as largely they are fragmented, and consist of riding on roads without any dedicated infrastructure.
->The signage has not been maintained, and maintenance is the responsibility of the respective local government authority, which varies wildly. Beyond the funding in the 1990s, signage has been maintained ad-hoc. There lacks any consistency. New signage is not installed.
->If you live in Perth, I seriously doubt you would have ever used these routes for navigation, nor would you have ever purposefully ridden by the route, instead of taking a more direct or safer route option as to on road cycling.
->The routes are circuitous.
->The OSM information has not been maintained to reflect changes, and the OSM application of the routes were not consistent.

Hi Richie,
Thanks for the edit!
Please review the Wiki and familiarise yourself with how to correctly tag roads, paths, etc which are under construction.
Cheers

Hi RichieRRR,

Please make sure you look at the Wiki and do correct tagging, you incorrectly have tagged these roads. Cheers

Hi ioanam,
Thanks for your edit,
in several of you changesets (not only this one) you removed the ability to make right turns from Stirling Highway. I do not believe you understand the Road Traffic Code. Just because there is a painted island does not prevent turns across that painted island. This issue has gone unnoticed for more than 1 year. Please make sure to familiarise yourself with local road rules to better understand when and when not make edits.
This is a pretty significant issue.

Hi deathtrapz,
Thanks for your edit!
Please make sure to familiarise yourself with the Wiki as you made quite a few mistakes in this edit. Things like this can take months if not years to be identified and corrected.

Hi eichkay,

Thanks for your edit,
Unfortunately your tagging skills need a bit of work, as you made some errors in this changeset which were quite significant, you also replaced accurate information with incorrect information. Please familiarise yourself by the OSM Wiki, and ensure your tags and edit information is accurate.

Changeset reverted due to multiple conflicts. Proceeding in two-steps.

Hi Richie,
Thanks for your edit,
Please make sure that you tag things correctly, and to make yourself familiar with the correct tagging schemes.
you should use the highway=construction tag and the construction=motorway (or other tag as appropriate) as well as all other normal tagging (road name, ref=*, speed limits, oneway, etc, as well as adding a note=* tag and fixme=* tag for future editors).

More info can be found on the OSM wiki,

Hi TheSwavu,

Please keep in mind that Main Roads Western Australia has no relevance to road names and should not be used or relied on in any way for road names. GEONMA holds road name information. MANY round-a-bouts do not have official names (and the names provided are not "official" (these are more like internal names used by MRWA)), an exception (as an example) is the Point Lewis Rotary. Going forward please do not use or rely on Main Roads Western Australia information, or replace information which already exists with incorrect info. Also note that this issue has been existing for more than two years. It is important to get it right first time every time.

Despite this, thanks for your edit it is always good to have people editing the map!
Cheers,

Just to add to this the road name "Darkan-Kojonup Road" applies to multiple roads connecting through to Darkan, including some roads which have since been removed / closed. The reason for the name change is due to a change in road alignment.

In certain situations the tag "old_name=*" should be used (but this is not it).

"Darkan-Kojonup Road" is made up of the following Roads:
Collie Changerup Road,
Magini Road
Old Collie Road
Moodiarrup South Road
Darkan South Road
Darkan Road

Have a look on the map and you can see the old road alignment, for the newer section of Collie Changerup Road (north of Magini Road) it >never< had the name Darkan-Kojonup Road.

Hi steerage250,
Thanks for your edit.
Please refrain from doing mistaken edits. If you do not know what you are doing please do not do it.
You changed the name on multiple occasions undoing the work of others, to replace it with a mistaken edit.
You changed the road name to "Darkin Kojonup Road" which is a clear misspelling. The town "Darkan" is nearby. You also provided survey & GPS as your data source. Most people are locals or attended the with an onground survey would not make such a obvious mistake. The correct spelling is "Darkan-Kojonup Road" (note the use of the dash). You also added the "surface=metal" tag which the road does not appear to be a metal bridge to me, or have a metal surface.

Traditionally these roads did not have names the roads were informally known as the Darkan Road or the Kojonup Road (for the same road) depending on which direction you travelled. When road naming was formalised the two were combined to make "Darkan-Kojonup Road". Subsequently this road was named as "Collie Changerup Road". 'Darkan-Kojonup Road" can be thought of as a placeholder name for when the road is unnamed. See this image:
https://images.es.landgate.wa.gov.au/mapsheets/M0252330IIINE.jpg

While there may be signs saying "Darkan-Kojonup Road", this is not the official road name. As it is signed you can add is as "alt_name=Darkan-Kojonup Road" (which I have done).

Hi miroslavuzice87,
You have made several mistaken edits and removed the correct name of the road (already there) associated with using "MRWA-514". By the same logic the source tag should not be added when then road names already existed on the way and were not the source of the information. The correct names are Boyup Brook-Kojonup Road, and Blackwood Road (and others). This mistake was not picked up until now nearly two years after you made it, and only by chance. Your source is not a reliable one nor an official source of road names and should not be used nor relied on going forward. Thanks :)

Hey shinjiman!

Thanks for the message, sorry I've been a bit inactive on OSM for a few months now.

I'll update this section of the road sometime soon! (Next couple of days)

71105460 about 6 years ago

Hi BracknoNe,

Regarding,
osm.org/changeset/69292720

Cheers for your feedback, and edits.
As shinjiman stated this area is under active construction, and any aerial imagery sources are almost certainly out of date.

So a certain level of caution should be used, and if you are not sure it is best to leave it.

Regarding the (former) intersection of Charlton Way and Drumpellier Drive.
I must not that you deleted certain parts of a proposed shared path, fragmenting the path, and also named it with the road name tags when it is not a road, but rather a proposed path for pedestrians and cyclists. The tags in this instance should have remained. Further that you made this a road (highway=primary), with similar results.

Also, as a side note that when it was fixed by shinjiman it was classed as highway=cycleway. Shared paths should be classed with the following set of tags:

highway=path
foot=designated
bicycle=designated
segregated=no

As at: osm.wiki/Australian_Tagging_Guidelines#Urban_Footpaths_and_Cycleways

I have also attached the latest available aerial images I could source available at:

Hi lonadr,

Thanks for your edit :)

Just a reminder to make yourself familiar with the OSM Wiki before undertaking any edits.

There are four primary issues with this edit:

1. For Australian edits, and as per Australian road rules a single white line / (as well as double white line in Australia) is crossable by vehicles for the purposes of entering or leaving the road (such as turning into a driveway or another road). Roads like this should not be divided. As there is not actual division or limitation for traffic to turn (but if you divide the road, then you create one, and potentially make routing problems). If there was a physical kerb then dividing the road would be appropriate.

2. As per Western Australian guidelines the road hierarchy should (generally reflect the Main Road Western Australian road hierarchy.

Additionally this is a dead-end / no through road (south of Amelia Street). The correct classification is as a Residential Street

(See this link:)
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmrDQrCz7JSpgbslFhFXseV0A3P8aA

3. Round-a-bouts should not be tagged with any name=* value (unless the round-a-bout itself is named, for example the Point Lewis Rotary near the Narrows Bridge / Kings Park in Perth.

As the Perth editing community is small, mistaken edits can take months or years to be identified, if at all for those less obvious ones. As a result it is important to get edits right first time every time.

4. There are no bicycle lanes on this stretch of road.

All the best,
