40785116 | over 8 years ago | You've added a building=yes to a node inside another building! Your "building node" has name=Multiroofing, but the building area it's inside is has name="Old Artesyn building". Are you trying to say that the name is "Multiroofing"? or what? |
42184925 | over 8 years ago | HI! I notice you changed the name of the Civil Parish from Derryaghy to Derriaghy ( this one relation 6,420,835 ). Are you sure about the name? On the old historical maps ( http://maps.openstreetmap.ie/oocmaps.html?zoom=13&lat=54.56112&lon=-6.08202&layers=0000BFFFTFF ) it's spelled Derryaghy. Has the civil parish changed? Is Derryaghy the old name? A civil parish name can be different from a locality, or town, or suburb name. |
41944686 | over 8 years ago | Hi! I've made some changes to some of the mapped grassy areas you did here. I changed from rec ground to grass. And added a few little bits of footpath since you /can/ walk there. :) Hope that's OK |
44464780 | over 8 years ago | Hi! Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I noticed your edit, and I've fixed up the node you added. I'm pretty sure your shop isn't a a fast food joint! :) So I removed that. :) If you have any questions, feel free to ask! |
44381869 | over 8 years ago | Hi. Thanks for your interest in Irish Townlands. However it looks like your edit has actually broken a valid relation, because you removed a way from the relation. I have reverted this changeset here: osm.org/changeset/44419224 |
41481767 | about 9 years ago | Hi! Thanks for your interest in OSM. It looks like you've added your address to OSM, that's great, we need more addresses. However you've categorised it as a hotel, which I suspect is not what you want. Are you open for business as a hotel? Do you want people to be turning up looking for a room to stay in? :) I've removed that tag (the `tourism=hotel`). You also added a name of "My House". OSM is a global map, for everyone. A house should only have an name if it actually has a name, like for postage. I've fixed up this change so that it's more sensible. If I did anything incorrect, feel free to change it back. Or chat here! osm.org/changeset/41485043 |
41419931 | about 9 years ago | I have undo this change in osm.org/changeset/41429901 since the name tag isn't for that |
41001116 | about 9 years ago | Hi! Thanks for your interest in OSM. However Pokestops don't belong in OSM. We're tying to make a map of the world based on what's actually there. I'm afraid Pokestops don't count as tourism attractions (which you've mapped them as). |
39959296 | about 9 years ago | I'm not annoyed about this, I think it basically never happens. ☺ (We've had more problems with Londonderry/Derry TBH). We do have the Irish name in the OSM object, in the `name:ga` tag (we also have English in the `name:en`). `name` should be for the single most commonly used name, and I think many people use just "Ireland". You can use databases to construct something with each official name after the fact. Having the `name` set to "Ireland" makes for a cleaner, more useful, database. Have you seen the [Irish language map we made](http://dev3.openstreetmap.ie/osm/slippymap.html?zoom=6&lat=52.44304&lon=-8.35828&layers=00BFFFFFFFFFFFFF) It has Éire. ☺ OSM is a database, and people can make a new map of whatever they want. The [French OSM map](http://tile.openstreetmap.fr/?zoom=5&lat=46.87523&lon=-9.65845&layers=B0000000FFFFFF) use the `name:fr` tag to have "Irlande", the [German OSM map](http://openstreetmap.de/karte.html?zoom=6&lat=50.21588&lon=-9.16777&layers=B000TF) use `name:de`, to have a map with "Irland" (and the other names).

39959296 | about 9 years ago | I've undone this change ( osm.org/changeset/40204565 ), because the name of the country is `Ireland`, not `Éire - Ireland`, which is a combination of both languages. Yes, Ireland has 2 official languages, but you don't see them mixed together like this. The vast majority of the population speak English, at home and in their day to day life, so the English word is the most sensible for the name of the country. Hope that clears things up. |
36438300 | over 9 years ago | The name tag in OSM is not the "official"/"legal" name. |
37062732 | over 9 years ago | Hi Riggwelter. Thanks for your concern, but mapping driveways is helpful for OSM and is quite common. There are more than 2.5 million driveways mapped in OSM (service=driveway), from all over the world. ( http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/service=driveway ) Concern for how the map appears is noble, but the map we see on osm.org is not the primary function of OSM, we're trying to build a database, not just an image. If you don't like how the map looks, you should talk to the people who design the style ( https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto ), and even propose changes. There are many other styles based on OSM data. The designers of the style have decided to display driveways. Maybe you could talk to them and ask if they want to not show them? Driveways are a useful thing to have on the map. If you want to drive to someone's house (perhaps a courier with the lat/lon of a house), it's useful which main road to drive on, and where to turn off. So please don't delete data like this. People have spent time adding it. It's accurate geo data that belongs in OSM, and should not be removed merely because it makes one map style look "cluttered". |
35276959 | over 9 years ago | Hi. As cute as this is, this is almost certainly not accurate. OSM is a shared global map database, and we're trying to stick to things that actually exist please. |
36438300 | over 9 years ago | Hi Mumbambu. Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for your interest in the Ireland, however please be cautious of taking a side on such a complex issue. The dual name solves a lot of problems. Like many things in OSM there are many correct answers to the question of "What is the official name?". The OSM name tag is not *just for the official name. So there are many correct answers to "What is the NAME of the city?". The dual name format solves a lot of problems. Also, please try not to mix two very different edits into one changeset. |
35641086 | over 9 years ago | Hi, what's going on here? This is almost certainly junk? |
25355900 | almost 10 years ago | Are you sure about the name:ga for osm.org/relation/3336165 ? ;) |
27958330 | about 10 years ago | Hi. I notice you've added a node called "Nkwansekwa Primary School", but you've tagged it as place=village. Is that totally right? Does the name of the village include "Primary School"? |
31053157 | about 10 years ago | I'm skeptical that this is a real edit. I've heard of this "country" and the story behind it. But AFAIK it's not recognised by anyone, and no-one lives there or claims to be a citizen, right? Should this node not be deleted? |
31146084 | over 10 years ago | Is Aghanloo correct? ( osm.org/relation/5139679 ) It's tagged as a townland/admin_level=10, but it is quite large, and overlaps many other townlands. Is this, in reality, a Civil Parish? |
30804518 | over 10 years ago | Danke. :) Ich will mein Deutch verbessern. |
