Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I appreciate you adding these houses. Quick tip - you can use 'q' when selecting a building to square it. While not required, buildings are encouraged to align with their outlines (sometimes more than just 4 points). The existing buildings along US 101 and the beachside hotels are a great example of this - it doesn't have to align perfectly but it's more representative of what can be seen from imagery.

I know that adding houses from scratch can be tiring, so you might be interested in using AI-created buildings as a starting point (https://mapwith.ai/rapid).

Hi,
Looks like you added the suite number in the street field, in the future please add suite numbers to the unit field with just the number (in this case 9)

It looks like you added a building=retail tag for the food court. I don't remember this being a building the last time I passed by here - maybe this tag could be replaced with landuse=retail instead?

Hi Edward,
As Mateusz mentioned in a previous change to this POI:
>In wikipedia/wikidata tags only entries about given feature should be linked, secondary wikipedia tags may be used in other cases. See osm.wiki/Key:wikipedia
The wikidata page linked in this changeset was for the company and not this specific location, and was already linked using the more appropriate brand:wikidata tag.

Hi,
Please don't abbreviate street names in addresses, in this area this includes cardinal direction prefixes. See:
osm.wiki/Names#Abbreviation_.28don.27t_do_it.29

Just curious - where did you find that map? I could only find this one, which is a little different:

POI removed due to a lack of response and incorrect location

111952514 almost 4 years ago

Reverted - please refrain from using OSM as an advertising platform and adding consultor's homes as businesses in the future. Advertising messages only adds spam to the map (osm.wiki/Key:description) and users might mistake this as an office.

111951113 almost 4 years ago

Please only use established tags: Google Maps URL and Years In Business aren't used by any service and just adds spam to the map. I recommend you use the OpenStreetMap wiki to learn about what keys to use and the proper formatting of their values. Here are some things I noticed that should be fixed:
1. Payment Types Accepted should be a payment=* tag with formatting shown in osm.wiki/Key:payment.
2. Hours should be formatted how it's shown in osm.wiki/Key:opening_hours.
3. Brand should be removed; this is only to be used for branded businesses, not the breed of the dog (ex. McDonald's for McDonald's)
4. language:en should have a value of 'yes' instead of English, English is already implied by the :en suffix
5. linkedin=* should be contact:linkedin=*
6. youtube channel=* should be contact:youtube=*

Hi again,
It looks like this wasn't the only instance of adding websites with tracking parameters. I've set up a Map Roulette challenge so that anyone can easily find most of these instances (https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges/23117). Feel free to use this to help remove the tracking parameters.

111585251 almost 4 years ago

Hi,
I noticed the updated website includes a tracking parameter (?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Maps&utm_campaign=LocalSearch). This is discouraged in the OSM community due to security and privacy concerns. (See: osm.wiki/Key:website)

Also it looks like this account is used for organized mapping by Hilton Hotels. I recommend you take a look at the Organized Editing Guidelines (https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Organised_Editing_Guidelines) before you continue mapping.

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. After reviewing the imagery and existing width tags on some of these, the paths do seem to be wider than other sidewalks in the area such as near Fleet Farm. This was a mistake on my part.

I added foot=designated and segregated=no to these cycleways and changed ways that were missed back to cycleway.

I appreciate you taking the time to fix my mistakes along Grand Prairie.

111550707 almost 4 years ago

Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I appreciate your interest in adding more details to this new neighborhood.

However, it looks like you created duplicate sidewalks in this changeset (such as osm.org/way/985959949). The existing 'cycle paths' should suffice as they specify access to both bike and foot traffic. Having a separate way for foot traffic is not necessary unless they're physically separated. I have removed the duplicates and realigned the sidewalks you have added.

In the future, you could change the background to a source that's more up to date (b hotkey) at the expense of a lower resolution. Esri World Imagery seems to be more up to date in this area. Make sure to offset the imagery when you do this so that it's aligned with Bing (the default).

No problem, it's nice to see some more mappers in this area!

Hey there,
It looks like this changeset turned Ventura Pak into a parking lot. I've changed it back to a park.

111312571 almost 4 years ago

Hi,
As another mapper has pointed out, you might want to take a look at osm.wiki/Organised_Editing_Guidelines before you continue editing. Overall your edits look good, just make sure to expand street names in addresses (South instead of S). You could also change the name of the street itself if it should include a cardinal direction prefix.

Hi,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I appreciate you trying to improve the map. It looks like you accidentally changed OR-66 to a residential road. I've changed it back to a secondary highway as well as corrected the format of the address you added in this changeset.

Thanks for cleaning this up! It makes more sense for these to be fast food nodes than restaurant buildings and it definitely renders better too. I'll use this and as an example for future cart pods I might come across.

You're correct, I've since realized that I shouldn't add names for these pitches. I've recently removed names from Aloha HS and I'll probably remove names from other schools around this area sometime this week or next week.

Hi Amir,
I appreciate your effort in mapping the interior layout of this residence and I understand how time consuming it must've been. However, due to some violations of privacy that can arise from everyone being able to use and view OSM data (osm.wiki/Limitations_on_mapping_private_information), I've removed these additions. I made sure to retain some of the useful tags you added in this changeset such as the building levels.
