Changeset When Comment

Hi,
Thanks for adding this! Note in the future that place nodes (village, town, city, etc.) are more for populated places than an event center like this. I've switched this to an events venue as this is what it looks like from its website. If you can a better way to tag this, feel free to do so.

Also, make sure in the future to separate the address into addr:housenumber, addr:street, etc. The default editor should have built-in fields for this, though it probably wasn't showing when you added this as a village.

If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to respond to my comment.

Thanks,
archpdx

Hi,
It looks like you forgot to close this wood multipolygon in this changeset so I fixed it:

Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for updating the businesses in this area - it's nice to see some more mappers in Oregon. Note that suite numbers, such as 'C' for 'Dream Dinners' should be placed in the 'unit' field instead of the housenumber.

After looking at Streetside through iD, it looks like the name for exit 239 is "Zzyzx Rd"

Hi, thanks for your feedback.
Generally what I've seen in the US is that villages are usually less than 1,000 people, which can also be seen on this wiki page: (osm.wiki/United_States/Tags#Places). However, I understand that Alaska has less people than other states and might have different guidelines on how to tag urban areas. I could see Glennallen as a town with the amenities it has, but I feel that it isn't important enough to be classified as a city.

Hi, thanks for your response. It's nice to see new mappers in Oregon! Routers shouldn't see it as a throughway as it's tagged as a footpath. Note that most providers update their maps every so often (usually monthly). Bikers/peds/horses might get routed through here without any access restrictions on the path though.

Yeah I meant if it had a road sign. We expand abbreviations in names (in this case Road instead of Rd) so I'll update this.

Hi,
In the future, please use more descriptive changeset comments: '#school #driftent' is vague and makes it difficult to review this changeset, especially since it covers large geographical area. See osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments

Also, please do not use names to describe features such as (osm.org/way/1007419429) - in this case the tagging should be sufficient on its own. For more on this see osm.wiki/Names#Names_are_not_for_descriptions

Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Something's gone wrong here: it looks like you dragged a node from a building (osm.org/way/327015560) and added a tree in the middle of the street (osm.org/node/9301974688).

I highly recommend you use one of the aerial imagery options (Bing is the clearest in this area) instead of OSM so that you can easily see where the trees are at - some trees you added in this changeset are in the middle of driveways.

It also looks like the names of the trees you added relate to their scientific species name. I highly recommend looking at (osm.wiki/Key:taxon) as we don't use the name tag to describe features (osm.wiki/Names#Names_are_not_for_descriptions).

If you have any questions or need further help feel free to respond to my comment.

Thanks,

Also I noticed that osm.org/way/1008183179 isn't connected to the road network and the 'marked crosswalk' node on one of the ends should probably be a type of barrier rather than a crosswalk, see osm.wiki/Barriers for more info

Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for updating this area. I noticed you changed the name of osm.org/way/5492491 to BLM Rd 20-2-28 and was wondering if this is the signed name. If not, where did you get this name from?

Thanks,

Hi, it looks like it was still tagged as Sears on the building itself, so I removed it.

Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I know that wooded trails like these are difficult to map, so I highly recommend tracing from the Strava heatmap using this tool:
https://github.com/zekefarwell/josm-strava-heatmap

I would follow the instructions for iD, which is the default editor. If you need any help with this feel free to respond to my comment. Happy Mapping!

Again you shouldn't use the name tag to describe features such as osm.org/way/1006011595 and osm.org/way/1006011594. I also noticed that you haven't responded to my comment from a few days ago and have continued to map, so if you're reading this please take the time to read my comment and fix the errors I pointed out before you continue mapping.

Thanks,

Hi,
It looks like this changeset adds a generic name for osm.org/way/1001240657, note that we don't use names to describe features on OSM - see:
osm.wiki/Names#Names_are_not_for_descriptions

Hi,
I notice many of these slip lanes you added in this changeset are disconnected from the roadways they're supposed to connect: for example osm.org/way/1005816016 is only connected to La Palma and not White Star. This slip lane should probably be a primary link instead of a service road as it's linking to La Palma and should be one way. See osm.wiki/Highway_link

I also recommend using iD (osm.org/edit?editor=id) to start off with as it connects features by default and has a bunch of presets and fields you can use instead of having to remember what tags to use.

If you have any questions feel free to respond to my comment

Thanks for adding these buildings! It looks like these can be seen in Esri World Imagery, so I recommend you realign the buildings to this. You can change the background by using the hotkey 'b'. Just make sure that you offset the imagery to align it with the surrounding streets (found at the bottom of the panel)

Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for updating this new development - I added all the roads Mission Village a couple months ago. There are a few things in this changeset I noticed that could use some fixing:
1. Road names shouldn't be abbreviated (See osm.wiki/Abbreviation). For example, 'Valencia Blvrd' should be 'Valencia Boulevard'
2. It looks like you added fords for when Valencia Blvd crosses an intermittent stream - these could be removed

If you need any further help or have any questions feel free to respond to my comment.

Thanks,
