Oh, and as I mentioned you can map a hedge as a line. You can specify the width as "width=...", but we usually don't add it.

If you want to map large areas of shrubs or similar you can look at this page
osm.wiki/Key:natural
You can always ask other mappers if you are unsure.

Hey Jimmy KK and welcome,

Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap!

Your changes look okay. :-)
- Missing spaces in the field names can happen, nothing to worry about.
- It is preferred that areas (i.e. farmland) are not connected to lines/ways (i.e. road). They can be connected to hedges and fences, but are better kept seperate so they are easier to maintain. (also it creates an extra large box around your changes as you can see)

Your changes can be viewed here:

For your information, the most important rule is to not copy data from Google Maps or any other proprietary / copyright content, without explicit permission. For the imagery in the editor applications we already have permission though.

If you need help mapping, have any questions, or just want to chat with other mappers, you can join the (local) community here:

(left click on the country / place of interest, a list of contact channels will appear on the right side)

Daniel

Hey and welcome robbykanyur,

Thank you for contributing to OpenStreetMap! Your contributions help improve the map for everyone using the data behind it.

Your changes look okay. Note, access=no prohibits all modes of transport to everyone, whereas access=private allows private (and emergency) access.
access=no is usually only used on construction roads and certain illegally created paths.
(The existing road also has "private")

Regarding
https://twitter.com/robby_rumble/status/1724452226708508984

I understand your concerns regarding inconvenient situations you may come across as an effect of a.o. missing or inaccurate data.

Contributing to OpenStreetMap is voluntary. Also, beginners usually don't understand access right away, and will leave it on default, or accidentally split etc. ways which can cause them to lose some data. Many people aren't a knucklehead; mistakes are human and humans have lives. And, we can usually correct those fairly easily.

As for applications using the data, there is generally some delay before the data gets to the application, so it may take some time to see your changes there. On the main openstreetmap.org you can wait some time and then try refreshing your cache (Ctrl + Shift + F5, or similar, depends on the browser). Changes will take longer to show up for lower zoom levels and marine coastlines.

Have you considered talking to the developer cooeecall on Reddit? It seems the app is including ways which are unreachable; this road looks like it could only be reached via the existing private road. This should preferably not happen, eventhough there are some legitimate unconnected ways (collectively called 'islands') which can be reached (like actual islands).
https://www.reddit.com/r/wandrer/

You should also join the (local) community via
https://openstreetmap.community/?map=41.79761,-87.56654&zoom=5.38
(OpenStreetMap US Slack is recommended for the US.)
They will not bite (or fight) and are always happy to improve trails and access mapping across the country.

Have fun riding and mapping! :-)

Regards,

Daniel

They are a fallback. You can remove them if they aren't relevant enough.

Hey Minh,

I've added some details in
osm.org/changeset/142515759
( Changes: https://overpass-api.de/achavi/?changeset=142515759 )

Let me know what you think.

impiaaa adviced against adding an address earlier as most of the other city parks don't have one and 650 is the address for the surrounding apartment complex, but I've left it as-is.

Regards,

Daniel
