I think this would be a considerable time commitment, I'm not sure anyone would want to do it, but I can see it would be useful.

OSM server congestion?

i find that zooming right in before switching to the edit tab helps.

The Water has to be on the right!

I find it much easier to remember it as land is on the left, as both start with L!

Porto Santo island

Thanks :)

Have a nice time! I've done a fair bit of tracing in Madeira too, on the East end of the island, so there are plenty of roads currently highway=road that need tagging properly.

Bradford, ON, Canada

It's always great to hear about new people contributing, and it looks like you've made a great start already! :)

The River Palouse

What an appropriately named town! Out of interest, where did the name for the editor come from? I'm assuming not Potlatch, Idaho?!

I-40

On a more positive note, it is interesting to hear about what people are getting up to around the world editing OSM, but yes, larger chunks less often would be great! :)

The Beginning

There are so many to choose from! Good luck!

bridleways in the Downs

Really? That surprises me as I've used the reporting forms on their website a number of times, never had any problems.

Acton and Pembrokeshire

Wow, pretty impressive!

Good to be mapping again

Wow! Glad some people have a lot more available time than me! :D Nice job tho.

The Beginning

I'm guessing you're new to OSM, in which case, welcome!

Rivers

The rendering of large rivers on Mapnik isn't working yet, but it should show up fine in Osmarender. Believe it or not, some are suggesting that all tidal river banks should be tagged as coastline! Please contribute your opinion at osm.wiki/index.php/Tidal_Rivers as once this is agreed, Mapnik might be updated to render large rivers properly!

The Thames at Belvedere

AFAIK the problem with the thames not rendering was a problem with Mapnik, not with the data... or are you talking about a Mapnik fix?

Good to be mapping again

Pretty impressive addition! How long did it take, out of interest?

That doesn't usually happen ...

I would report the situation to the county council. I doubt they will do anything, at least not very quickly, but I believe it is the proper process for this.

When will landowners learn that messing around with signposts just ends up with people wandering around lost all over the place, doing far more damage to crops etc than they would if they could follow the rights of way?!

Map forests

I've been adding woodland and forests around my area here: osm.org/?lat=51.123&lon=-0.163&zoom=11&layers=B00FTF it does make the map much prettier I think, and is useful for off-road navigation. I find that it can sometimes be hard to decide where to draw the edge of woodland where the trees gradually become less dense and/or smaller.

Acton and Pembrokeshire

Great to hear people are mapping Pembrokeshire, I've noticed in the past that it is somewhat lacking in detail. One strange thing I noticed is that Permbroke Castle has been mapped in great detail (far more than would be possible with a GPS), while the rest of the town is mainly blank. Does anyone know why?

bridleways in the Downs

that should have read "give OSM a positive image" oops.

bridleways in the Downs

On that subject, if you find any rights of way in a bad state of repair (eg impassible on foot because of mud) when you're mapping, it's an ideal opportunity to report it as you can mark in your tracklog exactly where the problem is. Perhaps this could be used to help give OSM positive to councils, who could, if they wished, supply a lot of very useful data to OSM.
