28373093 | over 10 years ago | Hi rwsdog, Welcome to OSM! I see this is your first edit! Congratulations! Unfortunately, you seem to have made some edits which you probably didn't intend. Park Avenue is certainly not a service road, for example. I've gone ahead and fixed it, but maybe if you explain what you were trying to do, we can figure it out? |
28262700 | over 10 years ago | It's really a shame that you say you have the time to add these objects to OSM but not the time to fix some mistakes. I hope that when you decide to contribute in the future, you'll work with folks to make your edits, which are generally of high quality, conform with the tagging that others are using. I'm going to go ahead and spend some time this weekend trying to go through this changeset and see what's easily fixable. |
28340407 | over 10 years ago | What's the source for this changeset? Looking at some of the objects, like osm.org/way/71918123 it says it's an abandoned bridge, but I can't see an abandoned bridge in the bing imagery. |
28309671 | over 10 years ago | What is this changeset? All I see are lots of nodes being deleted. Why were they deleted? |
28299961 | over 10 years ago | This changeset is a mass edit and that, as far as I can tell, has no other other purpose than mass reclassifying (downgrading) of roads for no reason. |
28262700 | over 10 years ago | Jordan, In regards to strictness, if you don't have any idea what something is, then you should find out. Ideally you should be manually surveying an area to determine what something is, but if you can't, then you can certainly use allowed sources and imagery, but in this case you seem to have speculated in many cases. As for tagging- while not strict per se, we do expect that people would tag things with existing tags if they can, and then if they need to use tags that go beyond that, do so. As for asking me to fix your edits- if you'd only made a few changes, I might go ahead and do this, but you have 25 ways here, each of which I would have to examine. I'd hope that if you plan on being participatory in the project that you'd work with me in identifying these problems and correcting them. Otherwise, if you aren't going to fix it, then we have to hope some else will, or just go ahead and revert this changeset- something I'm sure you'd like to avoid. Since you mentioned wanting to use OSM for other projects, I'm hoping that you'll start off by doing this, and thereby show your good will. |
28262700 | over 10 years ago | Hi jdmuell! Welcome to the OpenStreetMap Project! I can see this is one of your first contributions. Congratulations on making your first edit. Unfortunately, I have a number of questions or concerns about this changeset. First, the geographic region that it covers is huge, which makes it a bit difficult to examine, but that issue aside, I'm looking at a few examples of objects you've created. You've drawn out this water body. You say it's a reservoir. How do you know? And then osm.org/way/323127583 The name tag is used for names of objects, so "On stream dam?", is probably wrong. Again, I don't know how you know it's a reservoir rather than a lake. The name tag, again, is used for the name of an object. The tags for baseball fields are leisure=pitch and sport=baseball. I'm not sure if those tags are built into the web editor (iD) or not, but if not, you can check our wiki for this information: osm.wiki Looking at this road:
Are you sure this is an unclassified road? osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dunclassified Yes, it appears unpaved from the imagery, but it also appears to have houses along it. That makes me think it's probably not unclassified, but maybe just a tertiary road. You have a stream here: I'm not sure the source for this. It doesn't appear visible on the Bing imagery. And you've set an elevation tag on it. We don't usually set an elevation tag on objects unless the elevation is notable, such as on the tops of mountains: And this object:
Is this a housing division or something? If so, you probably want to be using the neighbourhood tag: osm.wiki/Neighbourhood I'm sorry to come at you with all these tags, many of which may not have been present in your editor, but we just want your changes to work with the rest of the map, so things need to be tagged in a relatively similar/consistent way. Do you think we can work together to fix this edit up? |
27988258 | over 10 years ago | Can you please specify the sources you're using and make useful changeset comments? The comments would be the part when you hit Save in iD, and I'm fairly sure you can set the sources there too. This is important, especially when using third party resources to map. |
28050944 | over 10 years ago | Hi Azure of the Waves. Welcome to OpenStreetMap! I see this is your first edit. Congratulations on editing OpenStreetMap! Unfortunately one of the obejcts you've created is an oddly shaped residential road that you say is named "food". I'm fairly sure there's no food road in Brooklyn, so I'm reverting this changeset. I understand it was probably a mistake. If you have questions though, just reply on this changeset and we'll help you through it! |
28011737 | over 10 years ago | This changeset is vandlism and spam. The traffic light has nothing to do with this business, and the changeset comment is unrelated to the changeset, instead it advertises a product or service. Reverting. |
28010572 | over 10 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I see this is your first edit. What it looks like you did was to modify the geometry of this building such that there's a big wedge in it. I'm fairly sure you didn't mean to do that, so I've gone ahead and reverted it. It can be a bit confusing to edit OSM in the beginning. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. |
28004623 | over 10 years ago | If you're copying data from Strava Global Heat maps, can you show the license for those maps that allow us to copy from them? |
27988258 | over 10 years ago | You're adding a lot of parks in this and subsequent changesets. What is your source for this data? |
27953723 | over 10 years ago | This is a pretty large changeset. Can you please explain to me what's going on here? Also, in the future could you please use changeset comments? |
27918779 | over 10 years ago | If you're a local, do you know about http://www.meetup.com/osm-nyc/ ? I'm thinking of scheduling a meetup for this weekend. |
27918779 | over 10 years ago | Are these stops being copied from another map? |
27879835 | over 10 years ago | Hi. see you've been making a number of edits the last few days. Congrats and welcome to OSM! A quick note though- unless your home has a sign on it saying "JOSGREVAR", we don't put people's names on their homes. I've gone ahead and removed it. If there is a sign there, please feel free to put it back. |
27829245 | over 10 years ago | No problem. If you need help, let me know. Also if you're local, you may want to join the local meetup: http://www.meetup.com/osm-nyc/ |
27833107 | over 10 years ago | That's awesome. Could you add that stuff to the changeset comment (when you hit Save). Right now it just says "Fixed rendering error" on your changesets. |
27833107 | over 10 years ago | Can you explain what this changeset is? You're changing a ton of objects. |
