28694282 | over 10 years ago | All your changesets have the comment "Adding Pease Golf Course Objects", which isn't the case. In this changeset you're modifying a lot, including country borders. Can you explain this in more detail? |
28624553 | over 10 years ago | Hi, I see this is one of your first OSM edits. . This changeset came to my attention because the comment is "added a gas station", but it actually does a great deal more, including adding a number of objects which don't exist, such as roads in the middle of the ocean. I'm going to revert this edit, but please only add objects to OSM that are ground verifiable. If you have any questions, you can ask right on this changeset. |
28583085 | over 10 years ago | Congratulations on your first OSM edit! I'm guessing that you're part of the dentist business that you've added. It's great that you've added that to OSM. Just a quick note that in the future, if you add other businesses to OSM, to know that we tend to like objective facts over subjective ones- so I've removed the note tag that you added that talked about a friendly environment, etc. because that's subjective. But otherwise, great first edit! |

This mass editing of names is clearly covered by these guidelines and are at the core of my concerns. Regarding the issue of license incompatibility between Wikipedia and OSM- this is a complex topic, but you've already stated that your edits were at least partially from another copyrighted resource, which is certainly not allowed in OSM. Thirdly, at least some of the translated names you offer seem like transliterations, rather than any actual translations, or names that are in common use. This is exactly the kind of issue that can be discussed in detail when an import or mechanical edit is discussed beforehand. I'm sorry that you don't like the quality assurance steps that OSM takes. Are you saying that all of your edits, going back several years, use from other non-approved sources, rather than being something which you surveyed yourself or used, eg Bing imagery to trace? |
28569769 | over 10 years ago | Thank you for your contribution! Is the only thing in that building the bakery, or is there residential on top? |
28527066 | over 10 years ago | Similarly, was this import discussed? |
28579711 | over 10 years ago | Hi. Was this import discussed anywhere, such as the imports list? |
28569769 | over 10 years ago | Is the Dolci Paradise Bakery not part of the same structure as 45-02 48th Avenue? |
28487154 | over 10 years ago | I see you've stopped adding these objects, but now I'd like to see if we can clean them up. Are these aircraft permanent? Will they never be moved? |
28262700 | over 10 years ago | I ultimately didn't have the time to go through this and fix all the errors and my next week looks equally bad, so I'm just going to go ahead and revert his changeset, which is a real shame because there was some good work mixed in with the not-as-good stuff. |
28555591 | over 10 years ago | Hi, You're making a lot of road edits here... dozens of roads per changeset. Can you tell me what it is that you're actually modifying, and why? |
28504338 | over 10 years ago | So now the question is which changesets do we need to revert. SMP, since we'd like to avoid needing to revert more than we need to, can you help us identify the changesets where you've set the names? Otherwise we'll have to try to figure it out, which may result in more changesets being reverted than necessary. |
28504338 | over 10 years ago | What is the source of these added names? |
28340407 | over 10 years ago | You might want to add that to the source for the changesets- right now it just says bing. |
28487024 | over 10 years ago | Is there a reason you've removed this ship from OSM and replaced it with your own drawing based on imagery? Please explain these changesets before making more. |
28487154 | over 10 years ago | This is definitely not a building- it's an aircraft |
28486379 | over 10 years ago | Are aircraft really buildings? |
28479897 | over 10 years ago | SPAM. Changeset reverted. Message sent to admin to have account closed. |
28299961 | over 10 years ago | SH17, there are really a few issues here, but before going into them, I want to be sure you understand that we're all just trying to make the best map, and I'm sure you are too. OSM folks are pretty forgiving about new edits and not strict about standards, but what stood out to me about this edit was that it touched lots of roads, and reclassified them. Now, maybe you have reasons for reclassifying them, but when you make lots of changes in a short time over a large area, people become concerned. So really it's a few issues here. The first is that this is a mass edit, which has its own set of rules. The second is that this changeset didn't have a changeset comment (the thing when you hit save) or a source other than Bing. Since your edits are also in DC, where are you geographically, and are you making these determinations from another datasource? If you're using another source, then let's talk about that source. If you're local, maybe we could sit down in person and talk about the changes? It seems like maybe you're doing some router or other work with OSM, hence the reclassifications? |
28441582 | over 10 years ago | Hi- great job with the edits! Would you mind setting a changeset comment on your changesets please? |
