Sorry, I think my hint was a bit misleading. What I meant was that changesets should usually cover a manageable contiguous area in terms of size and data content. In this case probably some 10 km2. With the same quality requirements for the result this workflow is not slow however much clearer for quality assurance.

One more thing I noticed - please pay attention to connect new paths(sections) always among each other and with existing paths/roads. The validator in JOSM usually warns if this is not the case.

this work looks better than your first two changesets, but some stuff that should be improved first before attempting further changesets.

Descriptive names should be recorded under description=* and _not_ under name=*

Adding at least surface=* to paths would be nice, incline even better (up/down is OK).

New paths should not cross existing paths.

Please check the BING imagery when editing, to avoid such problems.

Please upload your refered gps tracks to the OSM server.

In the future I would suggest to add only one highway per changeset and have your work checked by your tutor before uploading.

Die Lage der POI bitte ggf. im Gebäude noch anpassen.

Noch zwei Hinweise: In der Beschreibung (description=*) erfassen wir bitte _keine_ Werbung.

name=* verwenden wir nur für Eigennamen von Objketen. name=Larsen Hausverwaltung habe ich vom Gebäude Hausnummer 16 entfernt, da nicht das gesamte Gebäude der Larsen Hausverwaltung dient und diese bereits in Nr. 2 ausreichend erfasst ist.

Ich habe immer meine Probleme mit der genauen Abbildung von Verkehrszeichen und nutze dazu das Verkehrszeichentool, in diesem Fall werden folgende Tags vorgeschlagen: http://osmtools.de/traffic_signs/?signs=262%5B7.5%5D,1020-30

Did I understand that correctly, does "Their staff are collecting a lot of GPS tracks and points that we're using to make maps." mean that "we" is a group of *organised* mappers?

In order to be transparent towards other contributors "organized edits" should have a Wiki page for the particular activity, and record the page in the list under Organised Editing/Activities: osm.wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities

Mass importing 10k nodes from raw (unedited and unaveraged) gps traces and directly converting them to highway=* easily qualifies as an import *and* an automated edit. This is *strongly discouraged.*

Besides the data duplications and questionable positional accuracy of a single gps trace, there are other fundamental problems from this changeset:

Do not delete or replace existing data but try to correct and improve it and keep the data history
osm.wiki/Good_practice#Do_correct_errors
osm.wiki/Good_practice#Keep_the_history

Don't use descriptive names like "ward no 1 to ward no 2" or "range chaur to chimali" etc.
osm.wiki/Good_practice#Don.27t_use_name_tag_to_describe_things

Don't introduce undocumented tags like "REC_TIME" or "REMARKS". What does "source=Idea International"mean?

Average out gps traces if ever possibly

Please use good changeset comments

The OSM community would be happy, if you follow these guidelines in your future contributions and supervisings.

This change set was fully reverted in change set 70746939 where the comment is "Revert of undiscussed import (among others raw gps data converted to highway=* resulting in countless hw-duplicates."

This looks like an import. Maybe you're not aware that imports have to be discussed before the execution, for details see the guidelines: osm.wiki/Import/

I don't know of any corresponding discussions at the import mailing list nor the Nepal Forum.

After some random checks you obviously imported raw gps tracks, converted them as a data layer and tagged them as highway=* like osm.org/way/693219676 and osm.org/way/693219666#map=19/28.50323/82.25649&layers=D

This is strongly discouraged and and you have been warned to do so by the validator in JOSM.

Among other drawbacks, you have created countless highway duplicates.

I think you'll agree that I revert this change set.

Helmut, darf ich noch mal nerven? Für eine Gemeindeverbindungsstraße (hw=unclassified) scheint mir selbst motor_vehicle=destination unwahrscheinlich. Kannst du dich noch erinnern, wie das genau beschildert ist?

access=destination ergänzt. Damit wären sämtliche Verkehrsarten inkl. Fußgänger auf Anlieger beschränkt. Wahrscheinlich meintest du motor_vehicle=destination, oder?

Hi wandermax82, danke für deine Ergänzungen. Vielleicht ist es dir nicht bewusst, wir verwenden das name-tag nicht für Beschreibungen und Bezeichnungen von Dingen, sondern nur für den Eigennamen falls vorhanden.

Du könnest die Wegbezeichnungen wie "Abstieg vom Zellerberg" etc. daher statt name=* als description=* erfassen.

Kannst du das übernehmen?

Wir versuchen idR bestehende Daten zu verbessern oder anzupassen und löschen Objekte nur wenn sie in Wirklichkeit nicht mehr vorhanden sind.

Orte um Trinkwasser nachzufüllen, sind wichtige Informationen für Wanderer.
Ich vermute der Brunnen vor der Hütte ist noch da, du bist aber der Meinung dies sei kein sicheres Trinkwasser, oder?

Falls dort ein Schild "Kein Trinkwasser" stehen sollte, hat das meist (haftungs)rechtliche Gründe und wir könnten dies wie folgt erfassen: amenity=drinking_water und zusätzlich
drinking_water:legal=no
