154643031 | about 1 year ago | Hello feathered_ouul, I noticed you've made a number of changes across Western Canada recently, with the changeset comment as per above: "A number of node changes." Can you please be more specific? At a cursory glance you seem to be making changes such as adding or fixing wikidata tags to businesses, updating bus stop tags and the like, but also many changes to areas & ways (e.g. buildings & pedestrian crossings) which aren't immediately clear. Thanks! |
154507285 | about 1 year ago | Hi Caidyn, Can you please add changeset comments to elaborate on what you're doing? Please see osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments. With respect to this sidewalk you edited in this changeset, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the `bicycle=yes` tagging is inappropriate. City of Calgary Traffic Bylaw 26M96 paragraph 42(1)(c) prohibits bicycles from being ridden on sidewalks. There are exceptions for children under the age of 14 and for newspaper carriers, but otherwise it's generally not allowed. Thanks! |
154045888 | about 1 year ago | Is it really *under construction* though...? I think it's a bit specious to say it is. There's some earthworks going on in Ogden, and there are some utilities relocation projects going on downtown, but the railway line itself is still not under construction. They're not even done detailed design yet. |
153870767 | about 1 year ago | Hello Whoabot, Going forward can you please split these sorts of changesets into two? Grouping changes made in Alaska with changes made almost 3000 km away in Manitoba makes it very difficult for others to parse the changes you've made. Please see osm.wiki/Changeset#Geographical_size_of_changesets for more info. Thanks! |
153719805 | about 1 year ago | Just want to add further context to why I changed this, as it cannot really be captured in a 255-character changeset comment. The Stoney Nakoda have been historically grouped together as one "First Nation" (as we call them now), as one recognized Indian Band, by the federal government, but they have contested that that was never their intent when they signed Treaty 7, and administratively the Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney bands (within the context of the Indian Act) have been semi-independent the entire time. As they see it, the Canadian government had unilaterally grouped them together for administrative convenience. (E.g. this is why there is a single reserve area with three numbers attached to it: 142, 143 & 144.) They do have an overarching tribal council, with representatives from each of the Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney, but have been seeking independent recognition (and funding agreements) as individual "First Nations". As such they have in recent years been conducting collective affairs as the Stoney Nakoda Nation*s*, and I've updated the name to the plural in English & en français to match this more current usage. |
152868760 | about 1 year ago | Hi Ron, Thank you for your contribution to OSM. FYI `access=*` tags can be added to `highway` ways to specify whether things are publicly accessible or not. See osm.wiki/Key:access. Just because something is publicly inaccessible does not mean it ought to be deleted from the map. (Otherwise, hypothetically we ought to delete almost everything on the YYC airfield, haha.) Thanks again for your contribution! |
151510690 | about 1 year ago | lane_markings=no? Maybe I'm not clear on what that tagging means, but if there's a yellow centreline up the middle of this road—which I can tell you is absolutely the case, just from looking out a window from where I'm at right this very second—does that not mean there *are* "lane_markings"? I thought "lane_markings=no is meant for where there are no markings whatsoever. |
151593738 | about 1 year ago | Thank you for double-checking. :) I don't know that Nina Gardens actually exists as a signed road, but there's no denying the buildings do have addresses on "Nina Gardens". It's a weird situation. I also thought that Colonel Baker Place might get re-signed to "Nina Gardens", but it hadn't happened as of last year. (Hence the ask to double-check. :) ) I think "Nina Gardens" was originally the pathway in the courtyard in the middle of the low-rise, low-income townhouses that were here from the early 1990s until 2010. This is excerpted from the City's online archive of old aerial imagery (specifically the 1995 set; see https://maps.calgary.ca/calgaryimagery/): https://i.imgur.com/Grbi480.png It's a little weird that a footpath has a "name", but it's not entirely unique. See for example "Fountain Walk SW" (osm.org/way/510566164#map=19/51.04186/-114.0839). Believe it or not the condo apartments in the middle of that complex *do* have legal addresses on Fountain Walk SW! :D All this said, just a heads up and friendly reminder: don't use Google Maps as a source. See osm.wiki/FAQ#Why_don't_you_just_use_Google_Maps/whoever_for_your_data? One of the reasons why we shouldn't, besides the questionable legality of doing so, is that Google Maps can be wrong! What got me mapping things on OSM in the first place was the many errors I found on Google Maps—fictitious neighbourhoods (https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Festuburt,+Calgary,+AB/@51.0017578,-114.1676025,15z/), towns that were just ranches that happened to have a post office a century ago (https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Pirmez+Creek,+AB+T3Z+2W8/@51.0400965,-114.4043672,15z/) or were never more than whistle-stops on the CPR, fictitious road names (https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Starr+Hill+SW,+Calgary,+AB+T3H+3J6/), etc.—that never got fixed, even after I tried to "suggest edits". Thanks again! |
151593738 | about 1 year ago | Are you *sure* that the cul-de-sac named "Colonel Baker Place" has actually changed name to "Nina Gardens"? There's no denying that the Columbus Place and Bishop's Manor apartments are signed with addresses on "Nina Gardens"—I'm the one who added them to the map—but it's not clear to me exactly where "Nina Gardens" is. The road you renamed to "Nina Gardens" was still signed "Colonel Baker Place" the last time I went past, which admittedly was last year. If the name of the road has changed that's fine, but let's not be hasty and *assume* that just because the nearby apartment buildings have addresses on "Nina Gardens NE" that that road's name *should* be "Nina Gardens", even though it's not. |
151304232 | over 1 year ago | Hello, FYI I have deleted the beaches you added here. These are grassy areas, nothing more. They may have appeared to be beaches from satellite imagery, but I can confirm from personal experience they're not. Unfortunately the addition of beaches to OSM by new users has elicited a lot of scrutiny because of Pokemon Go, as described in a Washington Post article from a few days ago. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/05/11/pokemon-go-fake-beaches-wiglett/ You don't seem to be among that user group that wants to add fake data to OSM, but please note that the addition of beaches to the map will have more eyes on it than usual, and it's nothing personal. I can definitely confirm the beach on the south side of Hwy 8 exists though. :) Note however that you don't need to, and shouldn't add the tag `name=beach` to a beach area; it's totally superfluous, the `natural=beach` tag is all you need. Welcome to OSM and happy mapping. :) |
150944025 | over 1 year ago | *straightened 50th Avenue |
150812440 | over 1 year ago | The changes you've made to the Deer Valley Mall are out-of-date. This building outline is incorrect: osm.org/way/335988865
In Sunalta, you've added this park: osm.org/way/1279199120 There's ALREADY a park there, you added a park perfectly coincident over top of it. *sigh*... |
150728446 | over 1 year ago | FYI I've reported the user twice to the DWG, with no action yet. |
150728446 | over 1 year ago | It seems very obvious to me that Evpac99—and their myriad aliases—are working off of old info. The Coke Stage is now just a temporary stage, only in place for the 10 days' worth of Stampede. Same with Nashville North, and neither is shown in the location they were last year. I wouldn't even map them. The bridge to Hall C of the BMO Centre was demolished a couple years ago, because the Victoria Park C-Train station was demolished, and the bridge across Macleod Trail was demolished. The second-storey entrance to Hall C *doesn't exist* anymore, that part of the building is GONE. Frankly I don't trust that anything this user touches is accurate, and I think all of their changes should be reverted on sight. |
150769833 | over 1 year ago | Denver is now "near Calgary"...? |
150472562 | over 1 year ago | Thank you. :) |
150416554 | over 1 year ago | Can someone revert this entire changeset...? |
150416554 | over 1 year ago | Sigh... Why did you add these "disused" highway on/offramps at the Hwy22/Hwy1 interchange? osm.org/way/1275412765, osm.org/way/1275412765
Why did you create this road route relation? osm.org/relation/17508556/ It's not "Range Road 30", and if ever was it hasn't been signed that way in decades. Why did you add these "emergency access" service roads? osm.org/way/1275412786, osm.org/way/1275412787
Do these paths exist: osm.org/way/1275412794, osm.org/way/1275412795, osm.org/way/1275412796, osm.org/way/1275412797, osm.org/way/1275412798, osm.org/way/1275412799, osm.org/way/1275412800, osm.org/way/1275412801, osm.org/way/1275412802, osm.org/way/1275412803 ? As far as I know they don't. Why did you upgrade these roads from driveways to "minor/unclassified" roads, when I know for a fact they're just driveways, and I already fixed this fictitious tagging once before? osm.org/way/32100255, osm.org/way/1233655984, osm.org/way/42963818 |
150237208 | over 1 year ago | Hello again Evpac, a.k.a GregHeffley275, a.k.a Wimpy_Kid, a.k.a Evbot99. What's your next alias going to be? |
149856392 | over 1 year ago | Oops, thank you, haha |
