108994533 | about 4 years ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap. If you're trying to add a place to the map, create a node or way for the location instead of picking a nearby intersection. Check out the editor walkthrough if it's not clear. Happy mapping! |
108991236 | about 4 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for putting work into editing the Hiawatha Golf Course. However, I'm wondering if you saw the golf course page on the OSM Wiki, which has some guidelines and best practices? osm.wiki/Tag:leisure%3Dgolf_course I ask because some of your edits don't seem to follow the tagging guidelines there. For example, using the "ref" tag for hole numbers, without the "#", instead of "name" tag. I know some of the golf tagging does not display on the standard OSM map right now, but it's being worked on. And it's most important that the data be correct, not that things display on that map a certain way. To show what the proper tagging can look like, this French map does a nice job rendering golf course tags: http://tile.openstreetmap.fr/?zoom=16&lat=48.72648&lon=2.60806 Hope you have a chance to take a look at the wiki. Happy mapping! |
108011283 | about 4 years ago | Hi, I noticed you tagged the whole building with the bar/restaurant info. However, since the POI only takes up part of the building, this would be better mapped as its own node. Can you please fix and take this into consideration in your future mapping? Thanks! |
106727076 | about 4 years ago | Hi, I noticed you created an area around Minnehaha Falls for a viewpoint. Generally that tag is used for a point that is a particular spot to view a scene. Sometimes I've seen it used on an area that is a platform or something like that. However, I don't think it's meant to be used as a viewshed, of all the areas you might be able to see something. More info on the wiki: osm.wiki/Tag:tourism%3Dviewpoint

106300364 | about 4 years ago | Hi, I noticed that you added areas for the Sonic and Iberia Bank businesses but tagged them as buildings. 1) since the actual buildings were already mapped and tagged, these area don't seem especially necessary so you might consider removing them, but 2) if you want to map those areas, it'd probably be best to tag them as landuse=commercial. Happy mapping! |
105973437 | about 4 years ago | Hi, the way you did this seems kind of weird. Piers are "a raised walkway over water" and are usually a way or sometimes area, but the area would never include the water. Most of the area you tagged seems more like a quay "length of coast designed to allow vessels of some size to moor alongside the shore" but again no water area would be included. For the larger area (including the water) maybe port or harbour would be better? |
103738242 | over 4 years ago | This changeset seems to have removed all OSM data relating to George Floyd and George Floyd Square. Can you please explain your rationale? These modifications do not match the situation on the ground. Thanks |
92974588 | over 4 years ago | Hi, curious how you know the name of this island? I haven't seen it on other maps of the river and when I search online the references are to an island in Panama (or this data). Thanks! |
99555127 | over 4 years ago | Hi, question on Lake Harriet Parkway and this is just the last changeset to touch it. If the park is just the parkway surrounding the lake, should the lake be used as an inner relation for it? This would be similar to how it's done for Bde Maka Ska, although not others like Lake Nokomis. (Noticed because the label displayed is for the park not the lake) |
28490158 | almost 6 years ago | Hi I don't remember exactly what my edit was about here, but if you check the history all those tags on these features were originally from this changeset: osm.org/changeset/15167068 |
69709617 | over 6 years ago | I understand the court ruling, but according to OSM's on-the-ground rule, Bde Maka Ska is the signage and thus should remain. Lake Calhoun has been listed as an alt_name. |
65963470 | over 6 years ago | Hi, welcome to OSM and thanks for mapping golf course features! I'd like to suggest a couple improvements to what you've done--you can read more at the Golf wiki page: osm.wiki/Golf The golf=fairway tag should be used only for the mown area between the tee and the green. The tee area (golf=tee) and green (golf=green) should be drawn and tagged separately. Information on the hole (especially par=* and ref=* for the hole #) is usually kept on a way tagged golf=hole that goes from the tee area to the green. Name is only used if the hole has a specific name (ie "The Bear Trap" or "Amen Corner"). Lastly, adding landuse=grass is discouraged because it is technically incorrect, and people usually just add it in order to make features renders on the main OSM map. The French OSM map renders more of these features, ie http://tile.openstreetmap.fr/?zoom=16&lat=48.72648&lon=2.60806 Thanks again, and happy mapping! |
62972992 | over 6 years ago | That makes sense, but then the other tag should also be changed to end up with highway=residential so it'll render, be used for routing, etc. Looks like rrkum has done that now. Cheers! |
65452196 | over 6 years ago | Thanks for your work updating boundaries. Would you mind including a more specific source link though? The Geospatial Commons has hundreds of datasets. |
62773154 | over 6 years ago | Hi, I was just curious if there was a reason why you deleted these address points? Usually data is only removed if it is incorrect or was based on a source that's not compatible with OSM's licensing. |
62972992 | over 6 years ago | Hi, I'm confused why you deleted the highway=construction tags on the roads under construction north of 5th St? According to the wiki, that tag should be combined with construction=residential until construction has been completed |
57360018 | over 6 years ago | Quick question, is the leisure=fitness in the old factory off Alfreton Rd to the southwest supposed to be fitness_centre instead? Thanks |
65121716 | over 6 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Thanks for adding detail to parks in the area. One tip going forward: don't use the name key to describe things or where they are. (see osm.wiki/Good_practice#Don.27t_use_name_tag_to_describe_things) For example, basketball courts and short trails in parks are rarely named, so you shouldn't include a name for them in OSM, just tag what they are (eg highway=footway). The fact that they're inside the park boundary is indication enough that they are part of the park. Thanks and happy mapping! |
58210575 | over 6 years ago | Just an FYI, I changed the spelling for two places you tagged from fitness_center to fitness_centre |
62989999 | almost 7 years ago | Thanks for adding to OSM in this area. In the future it'd be nice if you could give something more descriptive and unique for your changeset comments. Happy mapping! |
