The nodes are in the DB somehow, otherwise your way= link wouldn’t be able to draw the blue line in the correct round shape. Also you see them in an editor. Example node of this way.
I could not find out why the default renderer misses some nodes of this way. Compare with other renderers (which may use older data).
I’ve seen this behavior on occasion a few times on I-275 around Sharonville, Ohio, where one of the two carriageways incorrectly straightens out, crisscrossing the other. The problem tends to resolve itself after a few weeks. I’ve never seen it this bad or on motorway_links, though.

The nodes are certainly in the OSM database. But they’re somehow not in the Mapnik database.

“Solved” now (the hard, not nice way): rickmastfan67 has deleted the old way and added a new way.
