65494149 | over 6 years ago | Whoops, this commit message got mixed up with the next edit ( osm.org/changeset/65494149 ), The commit message for this should be: "Update, from survey, selling of christmas trees" |
65494628 | over 6 years ago | Whoops, this commit message got mixed up with my previous edit ( osm.org/changeset/65494149 ), The commit message for this should be: "Added lgbtq tags to things with gay tag based on common sense, and online research of their websites" |
65296511 | over 6 years ago | I did some analysis of current tags, there are almost 100 million non Basic Multilingual Plane characters already in OSM tags. I'm curious what software will barf on this, and not other non-ASCII characters. What sort of errors do we see? Can we fix that software? One complaint is about duplication. Perhaps switching from the lgbtq tag to 🏳️🌈 might help and be a better key? 😉 |

65296511 | almost 7 years ago | Oh that would be a shame. I've never generated Garmin files. What happens when you do it with characters/tags like that? I'm surprised it hasn't caused a problem yet considering how big & global OSM is already. |
65296511 | almost 7 years ago | I'm not aware of any software that this has broken, if there is, please let me know. That would be a serious matter. If your software expects ASCII text, you're not going to be able to work with lots of OSM data. 🙂 Lots of text looks like "black squiggles" to me (yes including this in my JOSM), that's not really a bug, merely a demonstration of how hard it is to display text. JOSM is well able to work with this tags (I added it with JOSM). OSM is full of "duplicate data", such as "phone" and "contact:phone", and many ways to store the same data (footpaths!). If you're worried about that problem, this should not be your biggest worry. |
65296511 | almost 7 years ago | I have put some documentation for lgbtq tag here ( osm.wiki/Key:lgbtq ). The 🏳️🌈=primary tag is for fun, since it can be more inclusive than "LGBTQ". Right now there is no difference, except that the OSM Wiki doesn't let you document a key like "🏳️🌈". |
9563282 | almost 7 years ago | Hallo, du hast "gay=yes" für Bel Ami eingetagget. Ist das richtig? Ein schwules Restaurant? |
64198672 | almost 7 years ago | I am adding lgbtq=primary to venues which are already tagged gay=yes. On the tagging mailing list ( https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2018-October/040144.html ), I suggest: "*When* to add a lgbtq=yes tag can be hard to know. In some places a gay
In this changeset, I'm only adding tags in the USA, and if you look at them, they all prominantly descirbe themselves as gay/LGBTQ bars. I don't think this is increasing the danger of anyone. There are benefits to tagging LGBTQ bars in OSM. |
13107481 | almost 7 years ago | "Brighton"? osm.org/node/1123739135 this in the herbedies! |
31061967 | almost 7 years ago | What's "San Antone" here? An addr:housename? Shouldn't you add that tag? 😉 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵 Don't forget neighbour too ( osm.org/node/3512925893 ) |
3158948 | almost 7 years ago | I presume we don't need this "addr:townland" tags anymore? 😁 I was curious what source:name="bin tag" was, but I figure it's the tag on the bins. 😁 osm.org/node/445524863#map=19/52.77909/-8.43159 I have removed that here: osm.org/changeset/63672202 |
63484773 | almost 7 years ago | Hi James! Welcome to OSM! I notice you've added a Holy Well here. You've actually added it 5 times, and created about 3 notes! That's a little overkill. 🙂 Thanks for your contributions. Please keep at it. I see you're using Maps.me, it's a great app, but when you add new data it might not appear on your app straight away. You're not adding it to a local saved file, but add it to the global shared OpenStreetMap database, so it can take a while before the Maps.me app updates its data. I've merged the ones you added into one holy well in this changeset ( osm.org/changeset/63565262), I cleaned it up and added the name aswell. Please keep adding to OSM, don't worry about beginner mistakes, we all make them (you should see what I did at the start!). Feel free to ask me any OSM questions. (BTW If you like historic stuff, do you know about my site townlands.ie It uses OSM data?) |
58767412 | about 7 years ago | Welcome to OSM! Just a heads up, you forgot to add any tags to this object ( osm.org/way/586398433#map=19/53.46239/-6.21253 ), which are important to mark what sort of thing it is Thanks for all your contributions. |
45474636 | about 7 years ago | You added a supermarket here ( osm.org/node/4632043959 ). But it looks strange to me. Are you sure it's a supermarket? It's a big building, but there is no car park(s) around it, so I don't think it's a supermarket.... |
60602849 | about 7 years ago | Just because something doesn't exist on the wiki doesn't mean it's wrong. 😉 The official residence of the president of germany ( osm.org/#map=17/52.51635/13.35208 ) doesn't have any specific landuse tag. landuse=industrial seems to be used for a weird collection of things, from sewage works, to county council offices, to places where you get your driving licence and fill in forms.... |
43975930 | about 7 years ago | You've made Áras an Uachtaráin a landuse=commerical? That's not right... I've changed it ( here osm.org/changeset/60602849#map=16/53.3613/-6.3176 ) to landuse=government |
43994938 | about 7 years ago | Hi. Does it really make sense for this to be landuse=residential? That seems a little.... off... |
59866274 | about 7 years ago | @freebeer I don't think it's fair to (repeatidly) call it spam. It's an honest mistake from a new user. 2/3 of the tags entered weren't spam, and were useful contact information if added to a shop. description tag shouldn't really be in OSM, but there are 1,100,000+ entries of that already. Cut the new user some slack. |
59866274 | about 7 years ago | Welcoem to OSM! You asked for a review of this, so here it is. It's great too see businesses add details. We don't really use "descriptions". *but* you've one beginner mistake, you added the details to a road! This way/line ( osm.org/way/23578413 ) is the R139 road. What's right is to add a point where your shop is, and add those details there (and then remove the details from the road). Am I making sense? |
