When you upload your tracks, for them to be useful to others, you need to make sure that they are set to be public. If you also tag the location, it is also helpful.

Do you have a link to the area? Use the permalink at the bottom right the map or the view tab.

You probably are not zoomed in enough. You cannot export large areas.

Maybe the waypoints have been lost in the conversion.

A server software upgrade didn't quite go as smoothly as expected, hence why there was a bug for a day. The GPS import can be a little flakey at times. At least now you do get a list of the tags and description that you used to submit the form, which you wouldn't have previously.

If you click the edit button, you will open the trace in Potlatch for editing the osm data.

There is currently no way to know whether a trace has been mapped or not. I generally only upload once I've mapped the traces, while other will upload then trace. Others will upload traces and not map them.

I'm currently planning on revisiting Stratford in about a months time.

I doubt that we'll get the whole of Stratford and the surrounding area done in one evening. Thus we could get some people interested in OSM to come to future events, or to map the local area in their own time.

For the Beach Promenade example, the key to the tagging is the speed.

Why not run a mapping party?

Just name every building. In council estates you often have to name the building as the roads don't have any names. What happens if you want to visit a friend who lives in one of these places, or have a meeting there? You can't find it on the map.

Alternatively buy a camera with a good zoom lens (e.g. 10x zoom) and then you can take a picture and zoom into it on the computer (or camera) to read the name. I use a Panasonic DMC-TZ3, which is excellent for reading signs that I can't read due to the sin being too far away.
