Ya se que según RichardF mapear es una actividad lúdica de exteriores, pero desde que tengo la fotografía aérea de calidad de Castilla y León no puedo dejar de mapear carreteras y pistas.

Interesante charla, taller en Haro durante la celebración de la RiojaParty 2009, seguramente consigamos nuevos maperos.

Aparte me sirvió para ir y volver a Haro por territorio virgen, hoy me he dedicado a editar gran parte de las trazas que saque ayer, cosa que hace tiempo que no hacía ya que normalmente se me acumulan unas con otras.

Y mañana, más trazas con un viaje a Valladolid, aunque esta vez será por sitios ya muy trillados.

Siguiendo con la vena programadora del fin de semana he conseguido adaptar el sitio alemán para que tengamos algo en el dominio español.

Faltan muchas cosas, sobre todo contenidos pero ya es un avance.

He programado un pequeño invento con ajax para facilitar la traducción de las cadenas de texto. Es muy muy básico, sin estilos, sin navegación, sólo para español, la generación de los ficheros se tiene que hacer a mano... pero puede servir como una ayuda.

My new gps logger is working nicely, using the RtkGPS (http://wohlberg.net/public/software/misc/rtkgps/) program in my nokia 770 to modify the configuration and retrieve the tracks.
It works in 2008 systems also forcing the installation (dpkg -i --force-all) and creating a symlink from libbluetooth.so.2 to libbluetooth.so.1

The other problem was about gpsbabel trying to convert the nmea sentences to gpx. Still not sure why, but the program was omiting the elevation data and also the nmea date parameter, so i wrote a little php script to retrieve the data. Feel free to ask me about.

Nuevo gadget que ya funciona ferpectamente, con el programa RtkGPS (http://wohlberg.net/public/software/misc/rtkgps/) y la nokia 770, mi único chisme con bluetooth, puedo modificar la configuración así como recuperar las trazas.
Funciona con el OS2008HE forzando la instalación (dpkg -i --force-all) y creando un enlace simbólico de libbluetooth.so.2 a libbluetooth.so.1

El otro problema que tenía era con gpsbabel para convertir de nmea a gpx. No tengo claros aún los motivos pero gpsbabel omite tanto la altitud como el parámetro date del formato nmea, así que me he hecho un pequeño cutre script en php para hacer la conversión. Si lo necesitas o algo dame un toque.

As SteveC has written in his post im out of my league talking about legal terms, im a programmer, not a lawyer.

The foundation is playing with the lawyers and im confident enough on the spirit of the new license, somekind of viric clause to avoid using the work of the community without giving something back.

All the movement is towards a FREE map, and I trust the foundation to obtain that goal.

A principios de semana perdí una traza de unos 40km por una carretera local con multiples desvíos que había mapeado con fotos y este sábado haciendo una de las vías verdes en bicicleta mi nokia 770 volvió a decir basta.

No es la primera vez que pierdo datos con el combo maemo-mapper+nokia, entiendo las carencias de mi equipo, pero he decidido mejorarlo.

Ya que el gps bluetooth funciona perfectamente he hecho pruebas con aplicaciones para móvil gracias a jynus, trekbuddy fue la primera opción pero el tema de permisos para mi motorola v3i lo puso complicado, la siguiente opcion ha sido Mobile Trail Explorer. Buen resultado, soy capaz de conectar y guardar trazas. Por la parte mala solo soy capaz de guardar las trazas en un fichero RMS ya que la exportacion a gpx no funciona por los permisos de antes y el telefono siempre tiene que estar abierto. Seguiremos investigando...

Como plan b estoy al acecho en ebay de data loggers, holux m241 o el Royaltek RBT-2300 son las opciones.

At the week begining I lost a 40km trace traced in a tertiary road with lot of junctions to other tertiary roads perfectly mapped with photos. On Saturday my nokia 770 failed again while I was in a 50km cycle trip.

Its not the first time I'm losing traces with the maemo-mapper+nokia combo, i understand that its limited and now im trying to improve it.

My bluetooth gps its working like a charm so im trying some of the mobile apps, thanks to jynus for pointing me in that direction.
-Trekbuddy was my first option, but the permissions for my motorola v3i got complicated so i tried.
-Mobile Trail Explorer. Good thing, im able to connect to the gps and also im able to record traces, hooray! but...
still some issues. The gpx export option its not working because of the write permissions and i have to deal with a rms binary file and other minor thing is that the mobile needs to be open all the time (its a clam type)

El planet con refresco horario también es uno de los pasos necesarios para montar el servidor de tiles para España.

Y una vez funcionando los tiles será el momento de modificar el osm.xml de mapnik para adaptarlo a las peculiaridades de España. Los cambios que se me ocurren son trunk pasa a ser rojo, primary naranja y secondary verde. También añadir una distinción para motorways con toll=yes

Hoy leo en el periódico (http://www.diariodenoticias.com/ediciones/2009/02/05/sociedad/navarra/d05nav14.1500853.php) que se ha abierto el nuevo tramo de la N-121-A a su paso por Ostiz. Como Evil Maps ya lo tiene recogido, antes incluso de que estuviese abierto, he pensado que nosotros no vamos a ser menos así que, como saco a pasear a la perra por alli cerca, he llevado el gps conmigo y ya tenemos la traza nueva subida.

Today, while reading the newspaper I discovered that the new variant in Ostiz was opened to the traffic. As usual, Evil Maps has the change reflected, months ago before was opened, and i thought that we need that change. The place is very near to my dog walking route so i took my gps and now we have the trace and the changes reflected using the Up-to-Date

Finalmente después de importar los tracks que tenía pendientes he conseguido superar el millón de puntos en trazas gpx, aún lejos de los del top50 pero contento de haber conocido una gran cantidad de sitios nuevos gracias al afan de recolectar nuevos trayectos.

Finally, after importing the pending tracks i have succeded in getting more than 1 million points in gpx tracks. Still far way from the top50 anyway im very happy to have discovered a lot of new places due this hunger for getting new points in virgin territories.

Voy a exponer un pequeño flujo de trabajo que empleo para manejar mis trazas gpx

Programas necesarios:
JOSM (plugin utilsplugins)
viking

1. VIKING. Abrir la traza gpx con viking
2. Añadir New map layer, mapnik, alpha 125, autodownload
3. En los sitios donde no hay datos debajo, edit trackpoint y split here
4. Eliminar las Tracks que van sobre sitios ya mapeados
5. Una vez troceado, seleccionar la capa TrackPoint y exportar como gpx
6. JOSM. Abrir josm con la traza original y la exportada
7. Seleccionar la capa troceada y darle a convert to data layer
8. Seleccionar las vías generadas y darle a simplify way
9. Descargar datos de osm y etiquetar al gusto.

This is my workflow to handle my gpx traces when new roads are created.

Programs needed:
JOSM (plugin utilsplugins)
viking

1. VIKING. Open the gpx trace using viking
2. Add New map layer, mapnik, alpha 125, autodownload
3. In the empty places, with no map data down, "edit trackpoint" and "split here"
4. Delete the tracks in locations already mapped
5. When done, select the TrackPoint layer and export as gpx
6. JOSM. Open josm with the original trace and the splited one
7. Select the viking trace and "convert to data layer"
8. Select all the generated ways and "simplify way"
9. Download data from osm and tag properly.

Ya están subidas las trazas con cerca de 150k puntos nuevos, así mismo ya he comenzado la edición de alguna de las trazas, la parte fácil es añadir carreteras nuevas y la parte complicada es etiquetar el mogollón de fotos que he ido tomando como referencia, especialmente motorway_junctions

Además estoy contento ya que he podido actualizar un gran tramo recien abierto al público de la nueva autopista A-206, antes primary CL-206.

I have already uploaded the traces from my recent trip, near 150k new points, also i have started to edit some of the traces. Easy part is to add new roads and the tricky part is to tag the big mess of geo referenced pics i have take, specially the motorway_junctions

Tenía pendientes de procesar las salidas de la autopista A6 en dirección Coruña y al llegar a la zona de Medina he visto que la mayoría de carreteras de esa zona, y que conozco bien, no están trazadas y ni siquiera disponen de trazas gpx. Afortunadamente con el Landstat y gracias a que la zona de Campos es bien plana ha sido fácil añadir algunas.
La sorpresa ha sido al llegar a Valladolid ya que la cobertura de Yahoo ha mejorado llegando incluso a los 200m así que estoy aprovechando para trazar bastantes cosas de allí.

I had a lot of tracks to process, including the highway junctions in the A6 towards Coruña, but when i have arrived to the Medina zone i have discovered that the main roads in that zone are no traced and even they have no gpx traces. Fortunately, the Landstat and the plain orography in Campos zone have made easy to add some of them.
The surprise arrived near Valladolid, the Yahoo resolution is real good, even 200m so im tracing a lot of things there because its well known for me.

Mapping following n-121, several nice places like Igantzi, Lesaka, Bera and going through France.
Added ref to france highways and changed from secondary to tertiary but maybe French people uses diferent notation.

Paso la frontera de Francia y voy a la busqueda del tren de la Rhune, añado referencias a las carreteras y las cambio de secondary a tertiary, pero puede que los franceses osmeros esten empleando otra notación.

I very long trip today and lots of ways to process. But i noticed a lot of new things.

-Im planifying my route trying to avoid places already in the map
-After a change in the way back I went back using OSM map instead of Google Maps on the Maemo Mapper, and using a lot of ways not mapped by me.
-The paper maps were obsolete, a lot of recently built highways were not present but OSM rules
-And lots of new places to add, now without dragons, leprechaums and other stuff.

Una excursión larga hoy para ver a mis padres y un montón de ways para procesar, pero lo más importante, he visto que han cambiado muchas cosas.

-Ahora planifico mis rutas tratando de esquivar las rutas que ya están en el mapa.
-Después de alterar mi camino de vuelta a última hora volví usando los tiles de Mapnik en vez de Google Maps en el Maemo Mapper, y usando muchas muchas cosas no hechas por mí.
-Los mapas de papel estan obsoletos, muchas autopistas de reciente construcción no estaban reflejadas, sin embargo OSM mola.
-Y lo más divertido, gran cantidad de sitios nuevos que añadir en los que podemos afirmar que no hay dragones, leprechaums u otras criaturas míticas

Lots of gpx uploads and fixing in the main roads, usually traced very roughly and now adjusted to the gpx track. A-1, A-2, A-6, N-I, N-II and the traversal A-231
Still a track near Vitoria is marked as N-I trunk instead of a double way motorway A-1
Also some pending tracks near Valladolid.

Definitly is needed to add the source tag to know the fiability of the tracks

Nice trip last weekend to the border of France.
Over 200km of tracks, and still i have work with La Coruña trip
