Project of the Week Pitch Problems
ایہہ 17؍August 2011ء English وچ «Dion Dock» لیکھ چھپیا گیا سی۔In my experience, the project of the week for adding tennis courts brought in a lot of tennis courts and a lot of maplint. The leisure=pitch tag is missing from a surprising number of them. Perhaps this convention wasn't well explained by the project, perhaps the hierarchy is too confusing. Does a sports_centre have a recreation_ground with pitches?

leisure=pitch is not well-known English.
leisure=field would be better.

leisure=pitch is something specifically designed and maintained for sport. On the other hand leisure=field is usually left to nature to be overgrown and usually isn't maintained for a specific sport.

leisure=pitch seems reasonable english to me. Could it be a UK/US english thing. Don't they call pitches, fields in the US e.g football pitch vs soccer field?
On the other hand, I've never heard anyone say Tennis Pitch or Tennis Field, only Tennis Court, which may explain why people are less likely to use a tag that seems wrong.

I've never heard the word "pitch", here in the US, to mean anything more than to toss something at someone, like pitching a ball, or a sales pitch. I've never heard of a basketball court, or even a baseball field, for that matter, referred to as a pitch. I find the leisure=pitch un-intuitive as well.

I think 'pitch' is an English word, not a US word.
